Wheelie Training

I warmed up with speed bumps.

Then I moved into the main event, coaster wheelies. This is where you are seated (not standing like a manual), but no pedaling is allowed during the coaster portion. I started to get a little bit of the hang of it. You have to be deep into the wheelie when you start!

Then moved onto curb drops, and even made the curb climb, which is a personal best, other than when I could briefly get up quality curbs on a unicycle ten years ago.

Then I went and bashed across a low curb island/planter, then daughter called and wanted a ride home so I packed up and went to get her.

Approximately five reps of the Cass Benton Hill, then up to the end of Hines and right back home on a proper out and back.

shoes: WeeHoo

I thought I could squeeze in a full session, but with a long appointment trip in the AM, work in the PM, and spouse out of town, it was not to be. Ran Harvey to one of the closer playgrounds for what was to be a 20 minute play session but one of the neighbor kids was there so we ended up there for an hour.

This bike is miserable; I am eager to get a free hour to try swapping bar and stems for my original XC mtb (c. 2001), which should actually keep the handlebars in their approximately correct position, instead of wobbling all the time and rotating.

Water level is down 1-2' from yesterday, which means acres of now dry ground. I should have gotten up early and explored the farther down for passability.

Local section is still closed, which is nice, fewer cars and the tire grooves roll ever so slightly better than the shoulder.

Had to pull over for an ambulance, which I then tried to chase when it descended to Hines, but I was too slow and didn't see it again.

A very lazy roll down Hines until the flooding was bad enough to hide all of the lane lines. It seems, max speed to keep feet and bike dry in 1-3" of water is around 4 mph.

Next time we get this much rain, I'm putting on old shoes and grabbing my beater bike!
