hiking (Kolapore) 2:00:00 [3] 7.0 km (17:09 / km)

Adventure hike on a lovely spring day in honour of Outdoormama's birthday:) Happy Birthday Jenn! The five km. minimum was met.
Found a cool trail the climbers must use at Kolapore. It went along the bottom of a stretch of cliff (with lots of rings attached) and was quite spectacular. Slow going in places but worth it. The trilliums were just opening and there were some very pretty patches. Seemed to be a fair few red ones. The trout lilies opened as the day warmed too. There were thousands of wild leeks and the fiddleheads were poking up. Spring has sprung.

mtbike (Kolapore) 1:00:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)

After a snack and drink - checked out the trails on the west side. They were mostly dry and fun. A bit too rocky for me to enjoy in some places but it was beautiful

cycling (road) 20:00 [3] 6.0 km (3:20 / km)

A hang-on-to-your-hat day! Sooo windy. But, it was the final day 0f the 30-days of April bike challenge so despite the chilly winds I did a short ride and got a latte at the Summit Social Club.
4 PM

cycling (road/rail trail) 45:00 [3] 15.0 mi (3:00 / mi)

The rain never really came, and it wasn't as cold as it was forecast to be so I went for another ride and did much of the trail system. There were certainly big waves rolling in past the harbour and crashing in spectacular fashion against the rocks. The wetsuit surfers were all bobbing about on their boards down by Oliver St. They're like a colony of sleek giant black seals frolicking on the rollers. Not really a lot of surfing seems to happen but they seem to be enjoying themselves. It wasn't so bad out but I was glad I wasn't riding to Thornbury!

Another socked in day but no real rain until evening. Not cold and no wind:)
Rode out to Nottawa and then west on the West Church Rd as far as the Pretty River park boundary. THen rode back down to town and onto the trails.

hiking (escarpment) 30:00 [3]

Knees were a bit sore this morning from yesterday's hills I guess but I got out before this morning rain for a nice walk in the woods.
4 PM

cycling (road/rail trail) 45:00 [3] 15.0 km (3:00 / km)

After the morning rain it was grey but dead calm and warm the rest of the day. Couldn't see the ski hills or Wasaga . Rode to do some errands and then continued on the town trails since it was so windless and warm.

cycling (road/rail trail) 30:00 [3] 8.5 km (3:32 / km)

Rode out 6th St. to the extension and then up, up but only part way. It's a big ass hill. Turned off at the Scott Mission and locked my bike up at the end where the side trail goes north. I was dressed too warmly after freezing yesterday. It was grey-ish but the wind was completely flipped around. Out of the SE today.

trail Run (escarpment) 40:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)

My first trail "run" of the year. Jog really but it felt good. It was a bit mucky in spots. Went from the end of Mission Rd. up and down a couple of ravines and then I was at the bottom of Murphy's Romp at Scenic Caves. I carried on just below the ski area to the next road. I'd only been there once before - on snowshoes for a orienteering event, It was fun. Then I came back and ran around the Mission property by which time it was much warmer and the sun was out.

cycling (road/rail trail) 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Rode back down 6th and then down 119 to Mountain Rd. and onto the trail into town. Even though it was windy it was warm:)

hiking (Sydenham Trail trails) 30:00 [3]

Hike-jog up at the end of the road in bright sunshine but it was nippy. The back is feeling better but it sure helps to walk every morning.
4 PM

cycling (road/rail trail) 1:25:00 [3] 27.0 mi (3:09 / mi)

Bright morning - clear but cold. The air off the lake was chilly even though it wasn't super windy. After more demolition work this afternoon I headed out for a ride, just as the clouds moved in. 2c but no real wind so it was bearable but eventually my toes were just too cold.

Note

Bit of a rest day. Did a short hike in the woods this morning in sunshine but chilly winds. Then more clouds rolled in and wind picked up out of the NW and the temps dropped. It was bloody cold. I did bike but 5km was plenty!!
