Orienteering race 7:48:51 [2] 32.37 km (14:29 / km) +480m 13:29 / km

Nitrogaine Full -- the GPS pod shows 30.8km, need to compare the tracks to see who's lying -- it was in the backpack facing up, so should be better than watch.

Battery -- GPS pod 20% left after eight hours, Ambit 3 Peak 58% left after eight hours both at 1 second recording.

Petzl Nao started blinking after 6 and a half hours, replaced by the other light.

Quite a few errors, the first large one at #68, very bad bearing from the trail. Should have followed Fishers when I saw them going east. On the plus side, I started using my magnifier which I think saved my navigation for the rest of the course.

Had a gel and some water on the way to #59. Something weird with the trail entering the powerline but GPS track does not.

So trashy leaving #65. Started eating a protein bar at #34. Good navigation to #76. To #82 saw the clearings explored whether I can get through directly from the clearing decided to go around after some poking.

Going to #69 was probably a mistake, so green, also an error following some trail leading into the marsh, following a wrong spur. I remember the western side of that peninsula to be more runnable and also I needed to be on that side to get to #51 but by the end it was unbearably trashy. Hit my knee somewhere going north along that marsh, I think, it hurt the rest of the way. Low point of the whole race was on the way out of #51, did not see any people for an hour (took me almost an hour from where I left the trail going to #82 till #51. Ate some chocolate on the hill after crossing the marsh on a log, finished the water, saw some people going to #51, looking at Livelox those were Fishers again, doing the smart thing and skipping #69.

Decided to start skipping aggressively after that, so after #66, and a half-hearted unsuccessful attempt to grab #45, went to a party at #41 with Fishers, Cooper and Richard. Refilled my bottle and proceeded to basically complete the loop around the lake, walking except for when Fishers caught me on the road to #67 but then they went to #42 and I did not.

Then 63-60-78 and instead of going to #40 went to #46 first, with a thought that if I have less than thirty minutes left I'd go to the finish, but got to #46 exactly at 5:30, so went to get #40 with no problem.

Felt okay physically most of the time except for throwing my knee, took electrolytes with my water, drank and ate okay (one gel, one and a half protein bars, and some chocolate).
