First day of a ten week program at Depth. Lots of talking today and not as much working out as I would have liked but I am excited for the consistency (but not the three early mornings a week!).

Trail run from Rattlesnake Point to Crawford Lake and back with Tim. Beautiful sun-shiney winter day!

Orienteering race 2:40:00 [3]

After last year's mishaps, the goal for this year's Snowshoe Raid was to come back on time, so we planned a modest route focusing on the controls in the NE section and matrix. Things went pretty much according to plan but a bit slower than anticipated, so as we checked out of the matrix box to finish up with 40 and 41, we knew time was going to be tight. When we hit the road we saw Kristen and Heidi coming back and asked them how it had been - they said they'd tried to go to 40 and saw how high the water was and turned around. We took that as a sign to do the same and just headed back, which was a bit of a bummer as we had 20 minutes but no other options in that area. In retrospect, we could have gotten at least two more lower point controls while still up around the matrix and still made it back in time. The original goal was accomplished though and it was a super fun day in the woods!
