Walk 1:30:00 4.0 km (22:30 / km)
WMOC model event at Woodhill. My knee is feeling pretty sore after a week or so of events (and from yesterday's stumble) and l just walked slowly around checking the terrain.
Orienteering 20:18 2.5 km (8:07 / km)
Masters A sprint final at Auckland University campus, a place that appeared to be designed by a stair happy marijuana affected architect. I went to 8 before 7 (l still can't count to 10), and hung around one control searching after thinking it wasn't mine, when in fact it was, then tripped over the speed hump into the finish, narrowly avoiding a fall. Came 39/ 60 in the A final, putting me 39 of 120 starters in W55, up several places from yesterday. Pretty happy with that! Some outstanding results from other Aussies.
Orienteering 23:40 2.5 km (9:28 / km)
Masters Sprint W55 heat 2. I went steadily and scraped into the A final (29/60). Very complex area.
Run 15:00 2.0 km (7:30 / km)
Warm up run back to the car where l had left my stick and compass.
Walk 40:00 4.0 km (10:00 / km)
Orienteering 30:00 3.0 km (10:00 / km)
Master sprint model
Walk 1:00:00 6.0 km (10:00 / km)
Walk around Shelly Beach, where we are staying. Lovely fishing village with lots of paths and parks.
Orienteering 27:45 3.0 km (9:15 / km)
Middle Earth Sprint at Rotorua. I focused, visited the controls in chronological order (a first for this carnival) and checked my control number (didn't check feature, though). However, l took the long route to 1 (visiting the start triangle, unlike other people) and ran off the map between 6 and 7 (as l didn't see the marked gap). Distance a guess as l turned the garmin on but not off.
