Snowshoe Raid
Another great day running around the woods with Tim. There was only enough snow to make the decision to wear snowshoes a difficult one. In the end, we opted to take them and as Bob indicated, we would wish we didn't have them (although he said the reverse was true as well!). The race started with a climb and we tried not to red line this. We skipped an early CP (which most teams in front of us got) and thought we were in front heading out to the far CPs although there appeared to be one set of prints ahead of us. After about the 4th CP, we began seeing teams around us, including the dreaded Beowolf and Attack from Above. Tim was again spot on with the navigation and we were moving well . We split up for the Matrix and as we joined up again, I figured we were short on time. Thinking that we needed to hit a few more CPs, Tim suggested we hit 2 on the way downhill...I figured that we were going to be out of time but we went for it anyway. We got the CPs and had about 5 minutes to get down hill...I didn't think it was possible, but we wildly slid down without killing ourselves and were only less than 2 minutes late.
