Gravel ride (Deep in the Busch) 1:52:40 [4] 21.7 mi (5:12 / mi) +760ft 5:02 / mi
shoes: Vivica

Tonight's TITS ride saw the long awaited return of Dave Beattie. The roads were rutted, the wind was strong and our flasks were full.

Chuck went for a breakaway early and I gave chase. Victory was sweet but short-lived, as I burned a few matches and paid the price for the next few climbs.

My shifter cable snapped on the final climb of the evening, which apparently shifts the bike into its hardest gear. The last 2-ish miles were not very fun.

Blippity blip blip mcblipperson.

Just out screwing around on a saturday. Still feeling the effects of wednesday's trail run, (embarrassing), and overall just not feeling motivated. Lots of assholes in cars out on this beautiful day.

super quick blips.

Gravel ride (Gravel) 1:36:11 [4] 18.6 mi (5:10 / mi) +628ft 5:01 / mi
shoes: Vivica

Busch gravel will never die, but a mouse certainly died tonight. Chuck, Scott and I got to witness nature's fury as a hawk swopped down, picked up some kind of rodent, and then ate it in front of us. It literally ripped the thing into pieces and swallowed it. Amazing.

Felt mostly strong tonight, but took a burner on the last few rollers.

DMX blips tonight.

Trail Run (Lews n Clark) 28:00 [3] ** 2.25 mi (12:27 / mi)

First trail run in quite a while. Ran a part of Lewis and Clark with Chuck. I plan to make this a weekly wednesday run. Good time.

Blippy day all day.

Rolling around the neighborhood to see ho my ass felt. Not bad, not great.

Gravel ride (Cock Gobbler) 5:51:03 [4] 62.0 mi (5:40 / mi) +2222ft 5:29 / mi
shoes: The Monster

Felt great for the first 40-ish miles, then ate a gas station sandwich and my stomach wrote me a letter that said "Fuck You."

The last 20 or so miles were a serious battle. The roads were soft, the wind was strong and my ass was definitely chapped.

Other than that, it was a totally awesome day spent with great friends. It felt good to knock out my first gravel metric of the year.

Gravel ride (Busch Gravel) 1:00:00 [3] ***** 10.0 mi (6:00 / mi)
shoes: The Monster

Icy roads normally arent a big deal for me and Chuck but tonight I was served a bowlful of humble pie. I'll estimate my speed at 20mph on a fast gravel downhill when the entire road became ice. Cool heads usually prevail, but shit went sour and I hit the ground really hard. Broke my helmet and fucked up my elbow a bit.

I actually saw a flash of light when my head smacked the ground, so that was a new experience. That's twice now that a helmet has saved my life.

After that, we turned around and took the shortest route possible back to the truck. Met some other dudes with similar luck in the parking lot. Beers were crushed and wind was broken.
