Walked the Yellow course with the nephews and inlaws. Had a good time, but as I type this (Tue June 6) my right bicep is sore - carried the 3 year old for about half the distance. I think my hearing is also finally coming back after the close range squeals of delight that pierced the air whenever Kevin spotted the "clue"... at least that's what he calls controls... :o)
Do you think there are any alligators in the Schuylkill River? Kevin believes there are!

Needed to get in a 90 minute run, so I figured I'd try the red course... In reality I likely only jogged about 60 minutes, jogged slowly 17, and wandered looking for controls 14 and 15 for the other 15 minutes.
It was a good course to move up a level on - plenty of trails to run on, and I was able to keep a decent eye on the map and the terrain. It was also lots of fun crossing the bike path - right next to the sign that states "please stay on the trail"... To my surprise a passerby on the bike path asked if I was orienteering... Why was he cycling on the path, and not joining in on the adventure? :o)
Overall I did pretty well, and hit most of the controls without problems. Control #15 was tricky (the control was partially folded in the depression, and there were 4 of us looking for it at the same time. I was within 15 feet of the thing, and it took a 5th person running in to find it for us all...
Despite finishing 23 out of 24 (and 2 out of 2 females) I enjoyed the course. I guess when red's the longest option I'll be near the bottom everytime.. Can't keep up pace with those male speed demons! I spotted Vadim running through between controls 2 and 3 (and never saw him again!)
