orienteering race (NOL sprint) 18:11 [3] 3.1 km (5:52 / km)

NOL Sprint race. Decided to not push this one for a couple of reasons. 1. I was pretty sure if i did my quads would blow up. 2. first run on a map since easter.

control 1 and 2 I lost a bit of time. everything else went pretty smoothly only loosing another 10secs right towards the end where ezy passed me. foot was good, quads held in there but did get worse as the race went on.

not a bad result to be only about 1.30 down with all things considered

running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

a bit of a warm up to the start. bit of a cool down afterwards.
2 PM

orienteering race (NOL middle) 51:52 [3] 6.1 km (8:30 / km) +200m 7:18 / km

The race that I was hoping the quads would hold out for.

Heard murrays report of the race that it was thick and scrappy and thought sweet, might be my type of race. anyway took me til control 5 to be happy with the map, don't know why cause that normally doesnt bother me, could be the lack of time on maps recently may not be though. I took far too long on control 1, control 2 i pretty much nailed and think that was reflected in the split. and control 3 map didn't make sense to, well vegetation didn't, and control 4 was a bit of lack of confidence after the previous i think and I thought that the spur going to 11 was kind of looking broad like it should be down near 4, plus the clearing and bracken felt weird.

Anyway after that start I kept the head going cruising around for a bit, no. 7 i went in too early. on the way to 8 the quad started to get worse so stopped to stretch for a bit.. kept going at a ok pace, messed 11 quite bad, 1min or so. saw jimbo and bruce off in the distance so started to go a bit harder. caught them near 13 and on the way to 15 my right quad decided to pack it in. stretched and tried to get going again but it was gone.. far too painful..

anyway dnf... not the end of the world... foot was all good.

in hindsight, I might have ran the last 2 races differently.. gone hard in the sprint and hopefully post a good result. and then just see how long i lasted in this one...

anyway now time to take it easy.. stop riding so much and strengthen the body back into running.

another run. Also had a couple of kids out for this run with me. was going to be a nice loop around a couple of tracks one of the tracks disappeared which meant that we bashed through thick grampians bush for a 300m til we found the road. that accounts for about 8 minutes of the time.

glad I did this one as the quads started to hurt on the day before on the way down hills. This is the same as at the 5 days. I now know its due to bike riding.

still no pain in foot = great.

Tuesday morning group ride over the mount. The group took it easy up the start of the climb today so i thought i would kick in once we turned the corner.. time was only about 22.20 so not quite as good as last time but still not back.

held on good on the way back and got a few turns in. decided to go with them into town... i then just rolled back home..

got told that i was starting to ride too good so i would need to shave my legs soon... fat chance of that i say. now to make sure the legs are right for the weekend...
