Team Sports (Soccer Training) 1:45:00 [3]

Did some good fitness stuff today, short intervals (50m) followed by push-ups then repeated with situps, crunch jumps and a 25 minute pyramid run.

Rogaining race (ACT Rogaining champs) 23:43:00 [1] ** 60.0 km (23:43 / km)
slept:0.75 shoes: Asics GEL-1120

What an ordeal. I really didn't know what I was getting myself in for on this one and struggled badly, particulaly during the night (all 14 hours of it). Andy and i also made some big errors in navigation, losing a lot of time. Not in a big hurry to do another to be totally honest. Enough said.

Orienteering race 1:16:35 [5] **** 8.8 km (8:42 / km) +325m 7:21 / km
spiked:14/21c shoes: VJ Twister

Was running very well through the first part of the course (was in 3rd at control 10) and then I just started to lose it physically, and more severely mentally. In the final loop I was 3-5 minutes slower than most of the other guys because I was making huge errors (I actually got to 18 before 17). Again my concentration in the latter stages was my downfall in what could have been a good run.

Orienteering race 35:19 [5] **** 5.7 km (6:12 / km) +180m 5:21 / km
spiked:11/21c shoes: VJ Twister

Took me too long to get into the race and so lost time on all of the first 6 legs. After that was running well with a few small errors untill the second last when I totally misread the map and started running from 19-21. Figured it out halfway there but still lost another minute. Physically I think i'm in about the best shape i've ever been in but I just need to eliminate those little errors.

Running 23:30 [3] 5.0 km (4:42 / km)
shoes: Asics GEL-1120

Planned on doing more but I was still sore from sunday and just feeling flat so i only ran a short series of loops around the museum and came home.

Running race (Canberra Half Marathon) 1:15:05 [5] 21.09 km (3:34 / km)
shoes: Asics GEL-1120

What a great run. Started slowly, exactly like I did last year and at about the 5km mark started to push towards what I thought was a realistic race pace. Felt great the whole way through and finished strongly, picking up 3rd place. Really pleased where I'm at considering the limited training that i have been able to do with my foot giving me problems the last 2 weeks. Hopefully I can get the navigation right next weekend up in Orange.

Running warm up/down 1:00:00 [1] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)

Running to and from the race, very very sore on the way home.

Road Cycling 1:10:00 [3]
(injured)

Mt Stromlo and then half lake lap (across Commonwealth bridge). Felt really really good which is a nice change from the last few weeks, really pushed it out and feel great now i'm finished. Unstrapped the foot today as well to have a look. It isn't healing very well at all so thats probably it, no canberra half this weekend either...

Road Cycling 41:00 [2] 17.0 km (2:25 / km)
(injured)

Very cruisey ride around the lake

Thursday May 3, 2007 #

Road Cycling (Half Lake Lap) 42:00 [3] 17.0 km (2:28 / km)
(injured)

Felt like crap. For some reason, since easter i've been feeling really really flat on all of my trainings and in the last few days the cut on my foot has opened up further (leading to my decision to pull out of the WOC trials this weekend). I really don't know what the story is but I'm going to try to take it easy, maybe just some cycling here and there while my foot heals. In the meantime I highly doubt whether I will run the Canberra Half Marathon but will hopefully be fit for the final round of NOL races later in the month.
