slept:7.0

15 easy - 5 x 5 mins uphill - 15 easy

Felt slow to wake up this morning and felt pretty sluggish in the warm up.

All 5 reps felt really consistent - all further by about 20 metres than the last time I did this session and legs fatigued significantly less quickly. Really happy with how that went given how tired and underslept I’m feeling at the moment.

Zero Achilles pain or tightness. Right knee felt fine today as stretched it before and in between reps.

Cycling 53:45 [1]

Easy cycling - not sure whether this should be added to the log.
9 PM

S&C 1:00:00 [1]

S&C 3 sets all exercises + calf raises and single leg eccentric squats.

Felt good to get a session done and load the patella tendon properly.

Easy 40 - 6 x Hill sprints - Easy 40

Felt tired and lethargic for first 40 but legs ok. Think a combination of poor sleep and diet not being great this week contributing.

Hill sprints felt slow to warm up but reps 4-6 felt strong.

Final 40 minutes felt comfortable - no complaints.

Importantly no rest Achilles issues or pain running yesterday or today.

Slightly concerned about right knee - aches at rest if held in flexion for too long but not painful to run on. Feels better having foam rollered it and stretched that quad well after the run.

Post exam easy run

Long day and early start today. Took this one really easy. First 20 minutes felt fine but the last 15 felt rough with both knees aching and calves feeling tight.

Think a cumulative of not enough sleep and exam stress not helping.

Running 1:28:51 [3] 21.76 km (4:05 / km) +47m 4:02 / km
slept:7.0 shoes: Nike Pegasus 34 #2

Moderate HM (took the opportunity to pace a marathon paced run for a friend). A little bit quicker than a moderate pace with an easy cool down at end

50% trail/50% road

Legs felt really fresh today and no issues keeping the pace or with tightness at the start.

Both calves felt a bit crampy after 1 hour but eased up after a few minutes. No Achilles issues today and aching less. Right knee felt fine during run but was aching a bit this morning before the run.

Sleep quality so much better and RHR seems to be coming back down again after CDR

Running 1:17:33 [1] 16.73 km (4:38 / km) +225m 4:21 / km
slept:7.0 shoes: Nike Pegasus 34 #2

Easy 40 - 4 x hill sprints - easy 35

Legs still fetl heavy and tired from Sunday’s CDR and both calves still tight. Hill sprints felt pretty laboured and weaker than last week but it was a steeper Hill today.

Achilles was well behaved during and after. Right knee feels like it is flaring up again. It is fine to run on but aches during the day and is a bit swollen.

Sleep much better quality but need to up the quantity

Running 59:02 [1] 12.68 km (4:39 / km) +40m 4:35 / km
slept:6.0 shoes: S/LAB Ultra

Recovery hour - flat trail.

Took it super easy today. Feeling tired and hungry from yesterday. Legs felt really heavy for first km and both calves tight. Eased off well throughout run though.

Achilles noticeable at about 1/10 for last 15 minutes when on uneven path otherwise all fine.

Sleep being affected by exams I think

Running 3:01:59 [4] 31.69 km (5:45 / km) +1549m 4:37 / km
slept:6.0

CDR 3 hours +\- target 1650m (watch seemed to not track the last ascent at all accurately so not sure actual vert).

Sleeping really badly this week.

Done across the Cheltenham escarpment As only an hours drive- mostly good trails.

Most of the ascents all runnable. The last 3 ascents were pretty tough (especially after 2hours 30) but I thought I would properly bonk. Should have taken more water (carried 1litre).

Legs felt good for most of the runs - both calves tightened up around 1.5hours in and now feel a bit tight (R>L) but no noticeable Achilles pain during the run.
