Trail Run 1:01:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:47 / km) +503m 5:18 / km
slept:7.0 shoes: La Sportiva Helios 2.0

Could of done with a bit more sleep but for some reason the dog kept barking in the early hours...

I was excited to get out and try the uphill tempo. Nice steady warm up and then got stuck in. Tough going but good to feel that bit of burn again. I was also pleased to get further up the hill than I expected.

It was freezing in the shade, halfway up popped into the sun and it was really hot. Legs felt good during the tempo and pleasingly still feel this evening.

After the run, went for a nice walk with friends and first lunch out in a very long time. Lovely.

Wasn’t that psyched to set the alarm and get out this morning but it turned out to be a beautiful sunny morning so it was lovely to be out for an hour before work.

Went pretty easy up Birker Fell which is a great road just next to the centre.

Off to play in a canyon now....

Trail Run 1:58:00 [3] 21.21 km (5:34 / km) +515m 4:58 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: La Sportiva Mutants (blue)

Again, early bed and slept well.

Work today was a pretty windy and wild canoe journey down the river and estuary, good fun and pretty hard work. Back by lunchtime and mellow afternoon.

I’d plotted this route last week and didn’t do it, was excited
to do it today. Nice run from Eskdale, over a little fell and out to the coast and back. Enjoyed the run, a bit rough and slow going in places but then some easy gravel road in places. Pushed on a bit on the way back and really enjoyed it.

Annoyingly, near the start I stubbed my toe on a tussock and got a really sharp shooting pain at the point of the groin injury. It was a little bit sore the rest of the run but seems ok after. I guess a little reminder that it’s still lurking in the background.

Up early for lovely cold crisp hour long bike ride before work. Felt tired but took it easy and enjoyed being out.

Spent the day looking at scrambling/climbing venues for work so it’s been another day of walking a fair way.

At 5 I tried to go for a second easy ride. It was rubbish! Felt tired, got a puncture, got hailed on and got another puncture, so gave up after half an hour and went home...

Trail Run 1:09:00 [3] 11.62 km (5:56 / km) +302m 5:15 / km
shoes: La Sportiva Mutants (blue)

Pretty mellow day at work, climbing and scrambling close to the centre, it’s bloody freezing again.

Ran after work, nice local trails for an hour. Started with a set of drills and then steady run for an hour. Towards the end 6 strides. Legs pretty heavy, not a lot of spring in my step for the strides. Mostly just hungry I think.

Generally pleased with how the legs feel after yesterday’s run though, both groin and shins ok, very minor soreness.

Trail Run 3:26:37 [3] 31.0 km (6:40 / km) +1166m 5:37 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: La Sportiva Mutants (blue)

Slept well again and woke up excited to get out running. Planned today to run with a few from Kewsick who I havent seen in ages. They were recceing the Ennerdale racr route so my plan was to go half way and run back down the valley. It was dissappointingly cloudy and cold but great to run with people again. It ended up taking a wee bit longer than expected, faffing about finding good lines.

Once I dropped into the valley I was pleased how my legs felt, keeping a reasonable pace all the way back. That will be the longest run since May last year, so I was glad that everything felt fine and still had energy left at the end. My shin is much better, and only began to feel it a tiny bit in the last few kilometres.
