Orienteering race 1:27:07 [5] 8.6 km (10:08 / km)

Oh boy. What a race. I was just so tired even on the first map so I knew this was going to be interesting. There was a decent amount of walking because I wasn't really in the mood to completely kill myself (I had a piano recital a few hours later). The weather was nice and there were people racing boats in the lake so that was super cool to see. Overall, taking a week off after a long, hard weekend of racing and then running 9k probably wasn't the best idea but, I'm excited to get back into the water on Monday.

Note
(rest day)

Our swim club group is taking the week off as a break between seasons (short course and long course). It's important to take time away from the pool to rest and let you have a life outside of swimming. Later this week, I'm hoping to maybe go for a run or two or do some jump roping just to stay active before starting up again next week.

Orienteering 1:04:13 [3] 5.3 km (12:07 / km)

I think I had the same problem as Saturday, I need to focus on the smaller decisions in route choice.
Ran past 1.
Running along the river might have been faster to 3 but I had a great attack point from the trail and hit the control very well.
On the way to 4 was when the tiredness really hit me. I decided to take the off trail portions of the next few controls more methodical so I didn't outrun my navigation.
Heading to 5, I crossed the water at the wrong crossing and decided it wasn't worth it to run back so I stayed on the trail and cut over to minimize time lost.
I had a fun time sliding down the mud slide by the river on the way to 6.
Tried to take a direct bearing to 7, wasn't that far off.
Halfway to 8, I saw the first person I had run into since control 1! Also hit this control pretty well.
Oh 9, lovely 9. I ran along the trail and decided to run north at the junction, running in the river to cut towards the power lines. It was impassable, so I ran further north and then back south before cutting off trail. Definitely should have taken the safer route of heading slightly south at the junction and crossing the white/light green towards the power lines.
I don't know why I didn't think of taking the road. Silly me.
I did like the downhill boost I got before reaching the go control.
