Bush Orienteering race (Day 5 Xmas 5Days) 1:01:09 [4] 5.3 km (11:32 / km)

"Dumaresq Dam"
Disappointed to stuff up #3.
Felt alright running. Hip wasn't too much of a bother today, but didn't ice it before the trip home :(
Bit of a grass track to follow for the last couple of controls.
Exhausted afterwards.

Note

Thoroughly enjoyed the 5Days. So pleased to have gone.
Thanks to the organisers and course setters and contributing clubs, plus of course Ron and Gayle - such troopers :)
Loved the variety of terrain. Some great maps out that way.
Looking forward to 2011. Happy New Year AP'ers.
Hip a little tender today again - perhaps the trip home and not icing yesterday after running, but I'm sure it's going to heal OK and I'm pleased to have been able to run at the 5Days. I'm convinced the injection has helped and the most aggravating thing is sitting (especially the way my desk is set up at work so I'm going to change that when I return) so hopefully I'll be able to do some training in this glorious stinking hot weather!!!!! haha

Bush Orienteering (Day 4, Xmas 5Days) 1:03:05 [4] 5.0 km (12:37 / km)

"Mount Brown"
Climbed too high for #1, stuffed around for a while at #2 and #8. Otherwise went OK. Nice track to follow for the last couple of controls, just picking of features as I went along.
Didn't enjoy tippytoeing thorugh the grass having to be so cautious because of ankles!!!
Think I'll just throw out my socks from today - just tooooo many grass seeds to worry about :)
Iced hip afterwards and it felt OK :)

Bush Orienteering race (Day 3, Xmas 5Days) 57:26 [4] 5.2 km (11:03 / km)

"Sawmill Creek"
After yesterday just decided to run and cope with the discomfort of my hip with the thought I'm not going to make it any worse cause it was no worse this morning. It felt OK anyway, perhaps with less climb and no rock climbing. Pleased with my efforts. Enjoyed the high visibility and runnability of the map.
Messed up #2, long leg where I pulled up two gullies too early, noticing the bracken which I was expecting. Then realised and still had difficulty finding the termite mound - seemed higher on the spur than I was expecting. Pulled up too early on a couple of controls, maybe cause I was trying to move quicker in the bush? .... haha, maybe I thought I was moving quicker than I really was ;)

Bush Orienteering race (Day 2, Xmas 5Days) 1:29:26 [4] 5.0 km (17:53 / km)

"Banalasta"
Loved this map, despite how badly I did.
Would love to go back out there and do my course properly!!!!
Stuffed my first leg - ended on the wrong spur, then stuffed around looking for it. Horrible start.
Did lots of things well, but made a few errors as well. Want to run here again :)
Iced my hip afterwards and it was OK that night.

Park Orienteering (Day 1, Xmas 5Days) 21:43 [4] 2.6 km (8:21 / km)

"UNE"
Terrific map.
Not happy with my hip - first run since my injection and it felt terrible :( Thought it was getting better.
Anyway pushed through and only really stuffed up at the end - the bush control Stupid me went low and through the bush, got caught in the fence, literally :) Made a mess of that leg and lost heaps of time and places.
Enjoyed the map and the course.
