running 2:42:28 [4] 25.46 km (6:23 / km) +350m 5:58 / km

Quite an adventure to finish a hard week of training. I know one is not supposed to increase the miles so drastically, but seemed the right thing to do. This was similar to the run I had planned for Friday, which I didn;t have time for then.

This is the longest I have run from home, and proves that the peak district proper is very reachable from home, and I don;t always have to drive there to run in it!

set off to ranmoor then up towards top of fulwood across to lodge moor and on to redmires. the paths here resembled reservoir, and in most other places, rivers. kept my feet nice and cool throughout.

then up to stanage pole, which was exactly 10k from home, in 1 hour 4 mins, pretty much all uphill.

on to stanage edge, then the top of the north edge of burbage (both of these very rocky and not very runnable). then rather than follow the path down and take the next path back up to houndkirk decided to cut off the corner; it was here whilst I was off path that I realised it was misty and only half an hour of daylight left and I had no compass, map or torch (oops!), but luckily the path appeared and I upped the speed a bit to get off the moor just before the light had gone.

then chnaged the planned route to take in more street lights, although this was also longer. down ringinglow road (where I had my only sub 5 min k of the run), then ecclesall road and up brocco bank and home. bit knackered now :)

running 28:00 [4] 3.3 mi (8:29 / mi)

batteries flat on the garmin, so time and distance is approximate. 3 laps of boring suburban streets in south london somewhere whilst Joe fences. Not really sure where we are; Ruth brought us here no questions asked. Joe is ranked second after the poule and has a bye into 2nd DE.

running 40:55 [4] 7.64 km (5:21 / km)

A new middling variant on the usual kind of route that falls into the somewhere-between-5-and-10-k-from-home-heading-westwards category.

Quite a bit faster than I have managed so far this week (but also shorter and less windy etc).

running 58:17 [3] 10.29 km (5:40 / km)

At risk of missing a run today having been across to cheshire, but got back in time for harriers :) Ran into town to see the Christmas lights (still November, bah humbug!). quite slow but ran off from the rest of the group for the last k (4:45).

walk 1:30:00 [1] 6.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

A wander around the streets of Knutsford with Anne, then around Tatton Park (where have never been despite living within a few miles for 18 years). Contemplated a weird building for a while, which I spotted as being art nouveau in style, though apparently lots of other architectural influences according to this: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/travel/destinatio...

running 14:04 [4] 2.51 km (5:36 / km)

A figure of 8 around Burbage Moor. Good opportunity for terrain running without a map, and no excuses to stop and read the map when the going gets tough. Mostly gloriously sunny, though incredibly windy (nearly got blown off my feet more than once) and rain was never far away (nice view of rainbow over Stanage :) ).

First quarter: downhill along the eastern path below the edge against the wind.

running 15:12 [5] 1.95 km (7:48 / km) +80m 6:28 / km

Second quarter: back up along the river.

running 14:47 [4] 2.22 km (6:40 / km) +40m 6:07 / km

Third quarter: around the west side of the valley, wisely (given the wind) skirting around Carl Wark. very muddy :)

running 15:56 [5] 2.05 km (7:46 / km) +80m 6:30 / km

Last quarter: back up along the river again, walked some of it on realising my running speed was slower than walking pace.

Circuits etc 45:00 [2]

SYO club night. some core strength stuff with big balls, warm up exercises and a control number memory exercise, which I did surprisingly well at. Then a chaotic netball match at the end. :)

running 46:29 [4] 7.29 km (6:23 / km) +200m 5:36 / km

First part of a longer run to get some much-needed endorphins. All uphill and very strong wind against - slowed to walking pace at times, but kept running.

running 42:17 [3] 7.49 km (5:39 / km)

Second part, mainly downhill.

running 8:57 [4] 1.21 km (7:24 / km) +70m 5:44 / km

Last bit uphill.
