running 2:42:28 [4] 25.46 km (6:23 / km) +350m 5:58 / km
Quite an adventure to finish a hard week of training. I know one is not supposed to increase the miles so drastically, but seemed the right thing to do. This was similar to the run I had planned for Friday, which I didn;t have time for then.
This is the longest I have run from home, and proves that the peak district proper is very reachable from home, and I don;t always have to drive there to run in it!
set off to ranmoor then up towards top of fulwood across to lodge moor and on to redmires. the paths here resembled reservoir, and in most other places, rivers. kept my feet nice and cool throughout.
then up to stanage pole, which was exactly 10k from home, in 1 hour 4 mins, pretty much all uphill.
on to stanage edge, then the top of the north edge of burbage (both of these very rocky and not very runnable). then rather than follow the path down and take the next path back up to houndkirk decided to cut off the corner; it was here whilst I was off path that I realised it was misty and only half an hour of daylight left and I had no compass, map or torch (oops!), but luckily the path appeared and I upped the speed a bit to get off the moor just before the light had gone.
then chnaged the planned route to take in more street lights, although this was also longer. down ringinglow road (where I had my only sub 5 min k of the run), then ecclesall road and up brocco bank and home. bit knackered now :)
