Knew I was going straight to the parentals place in Lathlain from work, so took the punt and rode the whole distance from home to work in the morning, in the belief that I would be able to handle a sub-10km ride in the afternoon. Shoved an unwanted piece of dried fruit down my throat and decided to be on the bike for the day. A luxury afforded me by Paul handling all the present and food logistics with the car.
Really enjoyed the ride in - the first 5km from our place is pretty much a free-wheel to nearly the end of Morrison Rd.
I'm way too slow up any kind of slope to stay on the road from there, so I took the bone jarring shared path alongside Great Eastern Hwy through the west part of Midland. I will continue to do this while I'm on the hybrid, but once I get back on a road bike I shall shun this pathway. It is horrible.
The rest of the way in was pretty standard. I owned the roundabouts and no one tried to kill me and I got to work 10 minutes earlier than I expected to feeling fab.

Failed utterly to eat anything at work until I was cleaning out the fridge and found a tub of yoghurt I had forgotten about and scarfed that at about 1.45pm. It was very, very hard riding into the headwind down the railway path and I spent a lot of time at slightly faster than a walking pace.
Was much happier once I crossed the river and pootled contentedly to my folks place for some recovery G&Ts and a ham sandwich.
