Running warm up/down 40:00 [2] *** 4.5 km (8:53 / km)
shoes: O-Shoes (Old)

The same run up the hill to the start and back again as yesterday.

Orienteering race (Irish Champs Classic) 2:00:16 [4] *** 11.4 km (10:33 / km) +520m 8:35 / km
spiked:12/16c shoes: O-Shoes (Old)

First start of the day, so woke up a few controls at the beginning and was orienteering well and running not too bad. Then missed 4 5 and 6 and lost most my motivation, but kept pushing, then the hill at 12 lost all motivation so walked/ran the last few controls. Time wasn't too bad considering but not sure how much I could have saved by pushing on. Not very well prepared for terrain like this, but not to worry.

Running warm up/down 45:00 [2] 5.0 km (9:00 / km)
shoes: O-Shoes (Old)

The neverending 2km uphill to the start as a warmup, And the same back down after. Was actually only 2.3 but it felt like 4.

Orienteering race (Irish Champs Middle) 49:33 [5] *** 5.2 km (9:32 / km) +210m 7:56 / km
spiked:14/16c shoes: O-Shoes (Old)

Benson's Hill - Lough Eske, off early, made 2 big mistakes, at 2 and 5. Didn't feel like I was running well, had a good bit of the course chasing Ivan Millar then trying to get away from him as he passed me after starting 2 mins behind. Got back over a min ahead of him but not the 2 mins again, though due to the start and finish boxes being wrong and me punching the bad choices, my time should be over a minute less! Don't think this terrain suits me at the moment, very wet slippery hilly and physical.

Note
(rest day)

Farewell Omagh. Hello Donegal. I didn't know it was possible for anyone under the age of 80 to spend so long in Asda. And who actually goes up and down every single aisle incase something jumps out at them that they really need. It's not like you're going to find a baby on the doorstep and suddenly need nappies, or someone's birthday will pop out of the blue and you'll buy a birthday cake just incase... The culprits being Ciara and Declan. At least it gave me time to start on the 12 pack of iced donuts I got for £2.

When we made it to Donegal it took us an age to get into the flat, as the key was hidden in a safer than ever place, but they didn't think to tell us where. I was then banned for cooking the rice, because starch gives you aids or something, then kicked ass at the irish quiz, purely by guesswork!

Swimming 1:00:00 [2]

This time Tiernan wasn't such a fan. Spent a while messing about in the pool, but about 30mins of actual swimming, Breast stroke changed to front crawl when i managed to open my eyes the whole time underwater. Was good for the swimming, but paid for it afterwards, could have done with a guide dog and a rusty fork to scratch my eyes out with.

Note
(rest day)

Didn't have the motivation to go running in the poor irish weather. So went and watched Tiernan go for his first swim. He was like a newly hatched turtle that had escaped the seagulls and made it to the sea where it belongs. Must have swam the length of the channel in there, and didn't cry once.

Running warm up/down 14:00 [2] 1.6 km (8:45 / km)
shoes: Trainers 2008-2010

Intervals at the leisure centre track with Rosalind. So a warm up and warm down around the track a few times.

Running intervals 6:45 [5] 2.5 km (2:42 / km)
shoes: Trainers 2008-2010

A lack of inspiration so ran fvo's planned short fast intervals. 2 sets of 15,30,45,30,15 - 45 sec rest and 2min45 rest between sets. Haven't ran intervals this short for years, so was pretty slow.

Swimming 1:00:00 [1]

Not really training, couldn't be bothered actually swimming as didn't have goggles so just messed about till it got cold, which was about 1 hour. Interesting it's the first swim since starting this thing. Would like to do more but it's too expensive over here. Maybe the lake will be warm enough soon!
