Paddle with Liz from North Cott to Freo Harbour and back.

I could hear the breakers crashing when I hopped out of the car but thankfully managed to get out without much trouble - although I think if the waves had of been coming much quicker I would have gone for swim. It has been a while since I launched in the ocean and it wasnt exactly graceful.

We did a quick warmup and then picked some points along the shore to re-group at so that (as Liz diplomatically put it) we could each go our own pace.

There was a slight following swell heading south but it was helpful and didnt really upset my stability, but I still managed to fall about a minute behind Liz at each stop.

The swell was more upsetting on the way back but although I had a few wobbles when trying to paddle hard it wasnt too bad. Liz is stable as anything and got even further in front of me and I felt guilty stopping at our regroup points so I was trashed by the end.

I was more than a little bit nervous about landing but managed it with only a few swear words. Gratefully accepted a hand with my ski from a lady on the beach when Liz hoiked hers on her shoulder and headed up the pedestrian only stairs.

Almost got to the river to finish my paddle but laziness (and the car heater on my feet) overcame me on the way home.

Note

Woke up at 5am this morning feeling like I had already been out for the planned paddle and ride and then been wrung out to dry...?

My body obviously needed rest so I went back to sleep for an hour and decided to opt out of training for the day. Very strange - its been a long long time since I have not wanted to ride to work.

Finally managed to get up for a paddle despite having a late night out with Jane and Greg.

Liz met up with me after the warmup and we did 5 x 1min efforts, 5 x 2min efforts, 3 x 3 min efforts. I felt flat this morning and was way back behind Liz from the start.

Strong northerly wind meant a very fast ride home - weeeee!

Bleh! A lazy weekend with no exercise meant a really bad nights sleep last night and no paddle this morning. Hopefully sleep will be better tonight after the ride to/from work and I can make up by paddling tomorrow morning.

Very uninspired blob to work. Knee was sore in the cold. Getting really frustrated watching a little blue/grey dot move mms in hours and not knowing what is going on out there.

My first challenging draft today - overtook some guy up the narrows and when he did the repass a little while later there was no way I was letting him get away. Absolutely smashed myself trying to keep up - both my little quads were burning.

Forgot to start the timer until I got out of the city.

Still refusing to get sick...
