Running warm up/down 3:07 [1] 0.58 km (5:22 / km)

Jog to start

Orienteering race (H2 ) 1:26:40 [4] *** 11.2 km (7:44 / km) +180m 7:10 / km

Late start due to babysitting duties. No issues with 1 or 2 and as I headed into 2 I thought to myself "Nice to have some control flow." Should never believe your own press! As I headed out my head said one way (the correct way) and the compass said the other way and foolishly I went with the compass. Went through more green than expected and plopped out next to a track, gully and big bit of rock and had absolutely no idea where I was. Tried to line it all up but nothing worked until I started to recognise the area as the leg between 1 and 2 and eventually realised that not only had I done a 180, but I was now orienting the map upside down. This must have been the reason for the original mistake.

Had a gel at the water drop at 5 and didn't feel too tired at the end. Didn't walk at all and only stopped to scratch my head in disbelief when looking for 3 and also at both water drops. I think I'll invest in a water belt to avoid these stops.

No probs with the rest, except being a bit cautious through the kilometers of vagueness. As much as I enjoy running at Dryandra, I don't think the area is that great for complex navigation. A few more short legs and changes of direction would have been good.

I'll guess the splits will show at least a 5 minutes mistake (GPS suggest I took 9 min on a 2 minute leg), but I know Tooms also made a big one.

Happy with the progression of my running, GPS says 13.36km averaging 6:29min/km. Looking forward to a bit of something different next week.

Mountain Bike race (M course) 1:21:00 [4] 20.88 km (15.5 kph)

First MTBO in a while. No real issues, except actually finding some of the tracks (even when I was already on them!)

Beat Juffy by a massive 6 seconds. Nice warm up for next weekend.

Running intervals 55:39 [4] 10.58 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 9

Warm up plus 2 x 3km in 13:00 with 2 min rest plus warm down.

12:58 & 12:55 for 3km efforts.

Really dark at the start and I started too slowly - had to increase the pace to get under 13 min. Complete opposite for the second one, started quickly and made sure that I didn't slow down too much.

Hard, but a good workout.

Took advantage of the LW and had a short run with the kids to shake out the soreness from yesterday.
