An cold, very wet and tiring evening of lessons learnt.
1 - charge all batteries (lights & phone)
2 - check weather & think about likely conditions
3 - rain is wet, really wet on occassions, and waterproofs may help
4 - have food in car
There are others but lesser ones. I realise they're not rocket science but sometimes you don't appreciate things fully until you're very cold & wet.
A little pootle over from Dick Hudsons to C&C. Very wet & boggy in most places although temperature was OK.
Got to C&C in 1 piece despite once over handlebars and one incident of braking on the boards. Heading home was more interesting.
Battery started to go after the 1st set of duckboards so thought I'd play it safe and head back to C&C and follow the road. This was fine until The Hermit when all light was extinguished.
Made a wrong turn on the road (turned right to Bingley instead of left to Dick Hudsons) & got completely disorientated. Got dodgy directions from a passing car who did have the decency to catch up with me to put me right again. Road to DH's was very long & wet tonight and not helped by cramp in both quads. By now rain was horizontal and the wind strong enough to slow me down riding downhill. On the plus side it was possible to drink the rain coming off my face without having to stop.
All in all a decent, if very slow, ride but it would be prudent to think about things a little more next time.
