Cycling 2:13:38 [4] 13.77 mi (9:42 / mi)
shoes: Scott Aspect 45

An cold, very wet and tiring evening of lessons learnt.
1 - charge all batteries (lights & phone)
2 - check weather & think about likely conditions
3 - rain is wet, really wet on occassions, and waterproofs may help
4 - have food in car

There are others but lesser ones. I realise they're not rocket science but sometimes you don't appreciate things fully until you're very cold & wet.

A little pootle over from Dick Hudsons to C&C. Very wet & boggy in most places although temperature was OK.

Got to C&C in 1 piece despite once over handlebars and one incident of braking on the boards. Heading home was more interesting.
Battery started to go after the 1st set of duckboards so thought I'd play it safe and head back to C&C and follow the road. This was fine until The Hermit when all light was extinguished.
Made a wrong turn on the road (turned right to Bingley instead of left to Dick Hudsons) & got completely disorientated. Got dodgy directions from a passing car who did have the decency to catch up with me to put me right again. Road to DH's was very long & wet tonight and not helped by cramp in both quads. By now rain was horizontal and the wind strong enough to slow me down riding downhill. On the plus side it was possible to drink the rain coming off my face without having to stop.

All in all a decent, if very slow, ride but it would be prudent to think about things a little more next time.

First night ride. Back up round loop at Grassington with hill up on road and track back down. Light was awesome - although had to stop to tighten the mount screw which was shaking loose.

Very wet in places and the track I used before had disappeared into stream in places but decent ride anyway.

Legs felt quite tired coming up the hill but so ashamed by pushing yesterday I wasn't going to do that again. Downhll fun but a little muted by not being sufficiently confident at night just to shut off and go for it.

Overall a good ride.

Just a change from driving to supermarket. Little ride over Hollins Hill into Keighley. The hill is a sod and was forced to walk last 1/3. Still blood moving again. Came back on main road.

Legs tired very quickly and in need of some serious work.

Hockey 1:10:00 [3]

BRHC4 2 v 1 Bradford Uni

Excellent game, played at full pace throughout and in generally a very competitive, but good natured, spirit. Steve's match report gives most of the details.

Really pleased with level of concentration I achieved throughout the game, although disappointed by the goal. 2 forwards broke through and I was left alone. Poor decision making left me stranded when I should have either taken the player with the ball at the top of the circle, or stayed back and waited for the shot. That was only point of real concern in what was a really satisfying game.

Am slightly surprised by MoM as 2 of the youngsters really played out their skins. Still flattered anyway.

Hockey 1:10:00 [3]

BRHC 3 2 v 1 Rotherham 2.

Good game with reasonable intensity and plenty to do in the first half. Was undone by nasty double deflection which was on target, then deflected off, then deflected back in from about the P spot. Annoyed about that but did manage to get a bit more personal with a few forwards later in the half.

Second half was quieter although they were dangerous on the break. Was pleased with concentration levels but there a few technical mistakes where positioning and timing was out.

Work very busy and not trained for a couple of weeks which is starting to show.
