Orienteering race 2:11:38 [4] 20.1 km (6:33 / km) +645m 5:39 / km
(sick) shoes: VJ integrator

JK Long, Kilnsey
Yesterday I somehow managed to get away with my lack of fitness, but there was nowhere to hide out there today (literally, when the hail came in).

Really sloppy orienteering didn't help things, nor the hail which I'm going to claim hit when I was at the most exposed bit of the course (far NW loop). But basically I just wasn't ready for a race like this.

Cramp hit hard on the final loop but I was so close to finishing I was able to walk/jog it in. Need to rethink the Jelly Babies refueling strategy in favour of something saltier.

Did at least get clothing right; wore hat, gloves, thermal and cag the whole time and whilst my hands went numb in the hail I was never actually too cold.

18th overall thanks to lots of the guys above me dropping out. Just about stayed ahead of ba-ba.

Running warm up/down 20:21 [2] 3.5 km (5:49 / km)
(sick) shoes: VJ integrator

Slightly less coughing than yesterday.

Orienteering race 34:30 [5] 5.1 km (6:46 / km) +190m 5:42 / km
shoes: VJ integrator

JK Middle, Wass Forest
Technically, one of the best races I've run. Just a few small wobbles, maybe 30s in total (unless the splits reveal otherwise). Physically I was struggling, especially on the hills, which was a shame as a bit more pace could have made this an excellent result.

Running warm up/down 15:11 [2] 2.5 km (6:04 / km)
shoes: Roclite 280

Running warm up/down 14:15 [3] 3.1 km (4:36 / km)
(sick)

Pushing the pace to see how it felt (answer was not good).

Orienteering race 16:47 [5] 4.0 km (4:12 / km) +45m 3:58 / km

JK Sprint, Leeds Uni
I was blowing out of my arse just to keep up a respectable pace and then forgot to actually read the map. Caught out big time at 5, losing the best part of 30s, and also missed the route to 16. Was also just generally very scrappy.

Caught by Peter at 17 and just about managed to hold on to him. A few half decent splits too so it wasn't a complete disaster.

Running warm up/down 13:24 [2] 2.4 km (5:35 / km)

Got a stitch, which at least didn't happen during the race.
