Day 1 Lakes.

A bit scrappy on a few controls, maybe 90 seconds lost. Otherwise feeling a bit tired on the climbs, last two weeks has left me with quite tired legs but should put me in good stead going forwards.

A few twinges from R Knee going round, but didn't really notice it as the main challenge was trying to get round in the wind and rain.

Up Wansfell, walked pretty much all of the stepped bit. Bit rainy.

Wansfell training as planned by Bilbo. Really nice on the open fell (if windy), but my navigation was a little off and then pretty sketchy in the very rough Skellghyll wood. Did four controls in there then came back.

Langdale is too beautiful not to get out again in the evening. Knee a bit sore (presumably due to wearing Inov-8's in the morning). Loop was quite a bit longer than expected.

Early morning run to shake out the legs as we were a bit delayed getting back from commonwealths thurs night. Alone, felt really tired but glad to get out.

Stopped off on the way down south for a plod about with Sarah. Attempted to run up Tinto hill, but we ended up getting disorientated hacking through thick forest and inadvertently looped back on ourselves. So we stuck to looping round a motocross track in the forest by the car where we accrued a lot of flies.

Nice gentle walk up the visenik ridge. Everyone a bit forked. Persistant rain so cut walk short and headed to the hut for sausage and soup. We were a bit confused by menu so inadvertently ordered two meals each which were duly demolished.
