SM Relay

Mikael sent me off just ahead of a big group. Squiggled a bit to the first, and a group caught me to 2. Had trouble running through the rough woods on the long leg to 3, and got passed by quite a few guys. Settled into a nice pack after that though, but we lost a minute to 5. Ran quite well thereafter, and took turns leading the pack with Richard from Pan2. I started to feel better and better, and was looking forward to finishing fast in the nice woods of the second half. Was running really offensively and was ahead of the group to 10 and 11. A hook to 12 and a miss-read of the control circle to 13 got me behind though. Tried to push hard to catch back up but then lost a bunch of time to 16 on a different fork. The guys I was with ended up 5min ahead at the finish!

So frustrated afterwards! I found such a great feeling halfway through and it was lost so quickly. The best I've felt physically in a long-while and then of course I didn't read the map. I can't be too hard on myself though, I haven't been training or racing seriously for 2 months, and those few good controls are motivating for the rest of the fall. Need to circle some races on the calendar, and get back some strength in terrain back.

Ran the open 8 at the SM Middle. Pretty good technically, except for losing a dumb minute to 9. Wasn't moving too quickly though, and took some bad routes.

8x1k, 1min rest, around the grus. A really nice session with Hinken and Hirokazu. We stuck close together the whole time, and it was good pack running practice. Find that I hate running directly behind someone, and prefer to sit a bit off to the side. And once again found that I suck at taking the lead without getting an adrenaline rush and pushing too hard. Was a perfect grus8an test simulation, hope I get to run another one.

Long DM

Ran pretty well in the beginning, but felt super tired and heavy in the legs. Then started to take some bad routechoices going way around on trails, which were often quite small and grassy. Ran the long leg quite badly too, doing almost the same thing as at natt-sm. Thought to cut home at 13 cause the knee was quite sore, but somehow convinced myself otherwise. Just cruised to the finish, although felt like I was just jogging for most of the course.

GMOK 25manna training

Went out pretty late in the chasing start. Ran the first loop really well, and caught some guys. Maybe started out a bit fast though, cause I felt really tired on the longer legs to 7 and 8. Could really feel the legs from strength and innebandy. A bit of a shock when I unfolded the map to 10 to see how long the course actually was, sure felt longer than 6.8k.

Took a spill to 12 and fell awkwardly on my arm, got quite flustered and lost a minute into the control. Checked out the right cliff but didn't see the flag and went on to the next one. Was chasing Lillen the rest of the way, and we took quite a bad route to 14 I think.

Pleased overall technically cause I was pushing quite hard. Should have taken a breather in places though to see the better routes. Arm quite swollen now...

Early with Hedis. Knee too sore so turned back quite early. Great to catch the sunrise over Surtesjön. Pancakes with lönnsirap made the morning though. :)

Chalmers Sprint KM

Made a lot of mistakes, probably almost a minutes worth. Head was totally not in it, and felt like I was always a step behind. Got frustrated after each small mistake into the controls, including a wacky one at 8 where I think the map is weird. Kept pushing hard though and salvaged a third place.

Really fun in any case! Need to get my head back into orienteering.
