Bicycling 40:00 [2]

To Danehy then work then home.

Teaching 1:15:00 [0]

I hired Keegan to put out the controls and help run the event, and his mom came along and helped a ton, too. 23 5th and 6th graders from the COMPASS program. We used the same white course I set up for Girls Sports Day. Some kids chose to run it a second, third and even fourth time. The kid (Jhonny, sic) who I think is the best prospect, super eager, actually knows Keegan, so I think that was strong reinforcement. Keegan ran the course and blew everyone else's time away. Keegan picked up controls and I sped into work.

Isn't this a nice photo?

Meeting with parents and teacher about the fall orienteering program at Vassal Lane 8th grade. It will take place with several meetings each week for 4 weeks leading up to all-day field trip on Oct 1 or 8.
Need volunteers and/or paid workers - let me know.

Bicycling 50:00 [2]

Work commute + other end of town for meeting about orienteering.
The program will serve 100 kids and about 25 adults.

Quite a few people I talk to seem to have heard of, or even done, orienteering.
Today there were 4 parents; one mentioned she orienteered a while ago at some camp. Some dude ranch like thing maybe.

work commute plus ride across town in the heat to work with the COMPASS program on orienteering. We stayed inside, talked about next Monday's field trip, and worked on "fold, hold and orient"

I'm looking for help for Thursday morning (Danehy), Friday afternoon (Dana Park), but especially this coming Monday, 27 July:
8:30-10 control placement
10-11:30 work with a small group of kids on a course
12:00-1:30 simple white course - setup, finish, patrolling the boundaries

Teaching 1:00:00 [0]

COMPASS program - presentation + map folding
