Blue Ridge Challenge - Blue - Day 2

10.8 km w/ 370 Cm. A little anxious that there were be another 550+ Cm. I had ~440m on my at times non-optimal route. Tripping and stumbling early so I knew I was tired.

Many areas of the terrain are really nice to run through and there are some areas of very interesting rock features. Other areas are very thick and not at all fun to traverse. Today's course routed us around the the worse areas better than yesterday's.

More misses today and one big boom on C10 - C11. Actually it was a double boom on one control. Instead of going for C11 I went for C16. Then I boomed doing that. Didn't figure out what was going wrong until the control numbers didn't match up.

Really scratched up; I think I attract thorns. Very tired and tight post race. Right foot seems to have survived wearing spikes for two long days.

Blue Ridge Challenge - Blue course - day 1.

Course listed as 9.2km with 385 Cm. I counted 555 Cm. Dang! I was tired. Happy though that I could keep my legs moving. Walked a lot of the bigger hills though.

Bobble at C2: started looking at rocks too soon.
Bomb at C4: Cross two major gully/creeks and got really confused.
C10 was an obnoxious control IMO. Tough climb through nasty green with no real navigational challenge. Started losing enthusiasm after that.

Recovered ok afterwards. Not really sore or overly tired. That was a nice surprise.

13c shoes: Icebug MR2

First two controls of model event and then sprint. Not full effort but worked the flats and downs. More measured effort on the ups so as to not completely use up my climbing legs -- turns out I would need them even more than indicated in CS notes. Lisa did the full model event and it visited some nicer terrain than the sprint; wish I had gone back out to look it over.

Rain and drizzle but not cold. Ran in Icebugs to save my foot.

Run 30:00 [3]

Easy run and easy row. Another fat boat day.

Run 50:00 [3]

4 Go Forth Dr. loops. Best place to hide from the heat, where it was only 95. 8x100 solid strides. Didn't feel too aweful given the temps. Ran with Hawn map.
