Calero. Walk out to Theo's Blue #3 to do some vetting he asked me to do. Spent about 15 minutes looking around. Then walked out to the start of my training course, just W of the saddle with the old corral. Jogged for about 5 minutes on the way to that.

Calero training course. Cobbled together from Theo's remote Blue controls, with a couple of Red controls thrown in. Almost the whole course was in terrain that I'm completely unfamiliar with, so that made it a decent training exercise. On the other hand, the steepness, the vegetation, and the slippery ground (covered with loose leaves) made the going very slow.

Very physically demanding. Went slowly, nailed them all, until the last one, when I tried to go fast, overshot, relocated and came back for a 4 minute error. Very warm, but got out early enough so it wasn't bad. Thorns and stickers all over my lower legs.

Nominally 2.9km, 210m, 9 controls. There were 10 in my original design, but as I started towards #1, it was too steep and too gnarly, so went back to the road and went directly to #2.

The usual weekly accumulation of morning stretching and strength exercises. Was too stressed for a couple of days in the middle of the week to do very much in terms of strength exercises.

Skyline short loop, 2 laps. Just seeing if my legs feel better, and they do.

Moved my Calero training to tomorrow because today we're going to SF to have lunch and do errands with Rachel.

Went on part of the Heart Walk at Oracle, but that was so slow that there was no possible training benefit.

Lake Ranch Reservoir. Hot: upper 80's, felt rather stifling. Not good for any sort of serious run. Hamstrings and especially glutes were sore anyway, so took it pretty easy. Felt decent in the third mile, but slowed a bit after that. Still, would be nice if a run at this effort would come out 1 or 1.5 mins faster.
