Short sprint course with Kate.

This one was way above Kate's current level, so we spent most of the time talking about what to look for and me basically pointing the way. Kate did a couple of legs around the buildings herself.

Long sprint at Whiteman Park GPS 4.32km

A little unsure and tentative to start with - glad I took my compass. Once I settled into the map and scale all was good until 20. I went to go through the marked break in the wall behind the cafe area but the gate was closed and bolted. So, I back tracked around to 20 and back out and around to 21. The second leg was 30+ sec longer than going through directly, which some people were able to because the gate was open later on. Such is life.

The other wobble was 23, were I read the control as being accessible from inside the fenced area, when a closer look would have shown that it clearly wasn't.

Other than that it was a surprisingly tricky course for this area, so quite enjoyable.

Happy to have stolen a couple of splits from the super-trio.

E2 at Mt Observation GPS 8.77km

All good bar #2 which I hit perfectly but then wasted a few minutes before finding it at the head of the gully rather than the bottom. Looks like a 3 minute wander.

A bit slow near 7 - didn't want to overshoot it and I was a bit to the right.

Probably not the best route choice to the finish, but I was banking on the bush being slower than the track.
