Cycling long (Torrens Ride) 3:15:00 [3] 65.0 km (20.0 kph)
ahr:153 max:188 shoes: Merida MATS 500

First long rid i have been on for ages. Rode from home to John's with Susanne, dropped Susanne and continued to rid with John down the Torrens to Henley Beach. At which point we were forced to stop for Chips, Burgers, Iced Coffee and Ice Cream. Once that mandatory stop was over we rode back to my house. John had to continue on back to Rostrevor.

Running (Torrens Run) 45:00 [3] 7.0 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: Asic Kayano XIII

I ran sort of by myself and sort of not. I jogged with the group over to the hill where they went and did intervals. I wasn't interested in intervals. On the way i saw Grant Keatly. i continued around the torrens and ended up caught in the crowds at the lantern festival - whatever that is. Didn't feel too bad and probably enjoyed myself

Orienteering race (SA Long Champs) 1:00:35 [4] 6.0 km (10:06 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Trabuco X

This was a better race than the saturday. I managed to run most of it with not too many errors. But my speed was obviously crap. I was beaten by a Walker (John N with an Injury) and a Girl (Catherine who i train with, and she is in good form right now). There was a bit of a bingo control at the second to last which was my biggest error - lost probably 1min. That wasn't enough to get in front of John. Looks like i'm definately back to sledging again.

Orienteering race (SA Sprint Champs) 35:19 [4] 3.2 km (11:02 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Trabuco X

Wasn't really the best conditions to start running again. I died after the 3rd control and walked the rest of the course. I ended up last place as can be expected but i'm not too dissapointed. The fun part of the day came when we had to start a search for the last of the M21 (remain nameless). I drove up and down the opposite side of the range from the race in case he crossed the ridge, and got to tackle the creek crossing several times which tested my 4WD skills. The creek was bone dry but the banks were sometimes not too good. The competitor was fine and just couldn't get a hang of the map. I saw him at number 15 still looking for number 1. The controls were at opposite ends of the course.

Running (Random Run) 50:00 [2]
shoes: Asic Kayano XIII

Run with Catherine after work, took it nice and slow and even slower on the up hills. Probably not the best last minute training before the state champs.

Cycling (Pacing Simon) 1:40:00 [2] 18.0 km (10.8 kph)
ahr:145 max:217 shoes: Merida MATS 500

Rode up to Carrick Hill for the Orienteering, once i got there i was convinced not to go on a course (sorry Catherine) so i paced simon87 while he ran, i sort of didn't pedal much at all. But it was a nice little ride, and it showed that i have lost a fair bit of fitness over the last month. Bring on the SA Champs. I rode home after that which was un eventful and nearly all down hill.

Running (Just a little one) 22:40 [2] 3.85 km (5:53 / km)
ahr:167 max:181 shoes: Asic Kayano XIII

First run for a while. I was sort of testing the waters to see i will react to running again. I think i should be fine, everything happened that i thought it would, and there were no surprises. It may take me a while to get back into a full rythm again though.

Orienteering race (Pymton) 42:50 [1] 3.7 km (11:35 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Trabuco X

HAd a bit of a walk around the shortest hardest course today at Pymton. Was pretty fun trying to maintain perfect direction between controls. i had two hard legs which i lost about 5-10 seconds on each. I don't think it had much of an effect on my overall time or placing though.
Lovely day out and it's good to have quality catering at the event. I ate a lot.

Note

Well.
Another night spent in the emergency department of RAH. I ended up with some intersting reactions that could have been a result of the anti-venom or the Hep B shot, or both. Either way i went to hospital wit shivers and not being cold at all. I was forced to get Susanne out of bed at 11pm to drag me there, and she sat in Cube 26 with me all night long. Thanks Sus. Either side of me in the emergency departmant was Barry/Larry the hypoglaecymic dude that no body knew why he was sent to hospital. and Norman the dude from Adelaide ramand centre that was shackled to his bed and had two guards to restrain him. All in all, a fun night out. It is 6:30 in the morning now and i'm about to start on my course of Steroids for the side effects.

Note

Another day of nothing.I have had two days off of work from an allergic reaction to the anti-venom. Nothing too serious just a lot of itching. Turns out my body doesn't quite like horse anti-bodies. Still it could be worse. Found out it is a minor case of Serum Sickness. I hope i can do something again soon, i'm bored of daytime tv and Open Source GIS.

Orienteering race (Marne Rocks) 55:00 [2] 4.9 km (11:13 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Trabuco X

Well, it seemed like all the mongs in Orienteering in SA pooled together to do one course. Thats right, John, Ken and i all got together and stumbled our way around the course 4. I don't think we could have been slacker about it either. It was loads of fun though, and i'm glad i had people around me to talk to today.

Note

Well, i didn't get to go for a run today, i still am trying to get back to feeling 100%. so i did the driving for the rest of the Arrows. I did get to go for a walk through Jupiter Creek which tested my ears and eyes keeping them open for snakes. Luckily (and thankfully) i didn't see one. What it did make me realise is that how nervous i am now in the bush. I hope i can forget about this soon.
