Walk - Bush (Solo - Mount Sugarloaf) 3:15:00 [3] ** 13.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks

A day to get away from Real Estate although my agent rang me with more news whilst I was out there. Distance a guess .. somewhere between 12 and 15 km. No running all walking. Some compass work. This must be the third or fourth time I have been back here since the start of 2009 (when I got an Orienteering Map). Think this is one of the nicest areas near Newcastle with lots of boulders, creeks and views. When go solo I can head through areas my Partner would never dare go. Started from the upper car park and went mainly north-east following a creek/boulder line and then east along track until at the eastern edge of the map (near the entrance sign). Then followed the track back north-west then up another creek to check out what looked like a zipper of the map (an embankment lined with rock .... this was great walking along the bottom). Then up to the northern tip of the map. Contoured around the cliff face edge of the map before returning the the track and looping back to the carpark for a drink (2 hrs). Set out again south-east through the scrub and down into the valley to the middle west of the map (where all the creeks converge into a rocky plateau). Been here last time but then followed this down off the map for long time (losing a lot of height) before deciding it was going to take ages to come back up. Climbed cliff back up (getting a bit hot and thirsty now) then followed another creek up before taking a bearing east to return to the main road. Then about 1.5 km back along the dirt road to the carpark. Love this area. Never saw a single person anywhere on a track or in the bush.

Bike Ride - General 1:48:36 [3] 30.0 km (3:37 / km)

Cardiff Heights to End of Nobbys Breakwall (51 minutes) and return. On Old Bike and only gentle cruising pace. Distance approximate. Going to take a long time to ride from Wallalong based on this! Not tired as yet after todays two activities so think I could manage Wallalong to Mayfield as its flat. However twice a day, 5 days a week might be a bit much even if I got a decent bike (and didn't get cleaned up by cars on the New England Highway). Was tempted to detour through Islington on way home just so I could tell Partner I "went for a bike ride at Islington" after she left for the week.

Note

Skipped gym due to getting ready for Open House. Survived our first 'two' Open Houses 11-11:30 with 2nd Open House added at 4-4:30 due to the high number of attendees at the first open. Rest of weekend will spend solo as Partner going to Kempsey. May go out for a general run in the bush around Sugarloaf or similar.

Walk - Cardiff (Solo) 30:00 [1] 2.5 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks

To local servo to get paper to check out Open Home listing. Waste of $1.30 since our home was not listed (it should have been).

Walk - Park (with Partner) 1:00:00 [1] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks

Distance a guess. Warners Bay to Elebana (and return) via new elevated walkway over the water.

Bike Ride - To Work 36:00 [3]

High time because riding slower in the pitch black and on old bike and forgot to stop watch. With Wednesday Orienteering Afternoons at an end I can add Wednesday to my list of riding days (at least until move to Wallalong). Avoided the rain until the last 5 minutes when got wet. Absolutely bucketed down 1/2 hour later. Will see how it is on the ride home. If it rains tonight I won't be enduring both Night Orienteering and running in the rain .... will stay rugged up and watch "Lost" (rather than get "Lost").

Note

For readers of my trivia here is the link to the House I have now committed to purchase Wallalong 6.5 Acres Target a park/street series combination around here next year ???

Note

Another session with physio working on left shoulder. Much better than last week but just a tune up.

Bike Ride - From Work 44:39 [3] 12.0 km (3:43 / km)

Held up a multiple sets of lights .... clothes stink from getting wet this morning but managed to avoid the rain on the way home.
