All pretty minging. Wet and strong winds at times, especially reps 7 and 10, which were slow solely due to the wind. Pretty good on tired legs, everyone including me didn’t feel like any more reps, tough after Saturday.

When you don’t run well I think you should be disappointed, even when there are contributing factors to your performance. I thought a lot about this during this run. Having run Valencia in late November, I completely rested for 2 weeks, jogged for a week, trained for a week, ill for 2 weeks, jogged for a week, trained for 2 weeks. Ran XC.

2 weeks training is not exactly a good base for a hard XC race, I think my ambitions were lofty knowing it was a course that I should have run well on. I not had the good build up like before last years race and I’m just not as fit as I’d like to be at this time of the year. The telling sign is that the day after last years Northern’s I ran 15 miles from Hathersage to Wellington’s monument and back, today I ran 6.53 miles!

So the positives, if I’m at base fitness then I can only improve, and that will come from unbroken training and enjoying racing again. It’s 4 weeks to the Big Dance. I cannae wait pet.
