I had quite negative thoughts in the week leading up for this; a week of revision meant i only quickly looked at the mapped the night before and this lack of preparation had been playing on my mind for a while. I've also become quite bored of taking an easy week every other week ready for a big race. Before the JK i was so motivated, but on the way to this it just felt like a local event.
So as I was on the line my mindset was horrific, and i knew I should be feeling more positive.
1 - far too slow and hesitant, also came off the path too early
2 - i was barely pushing myself physically and constantly doubting my route choice, not good.
3 - fine
4 - a little hesitant but starting to push a little
5 - i decided to go back up and round, again doubting my route, and also lost time in the circle. (it looks like i'm the only one to have done that)
6 - too far right
7 - fine
8 - took the opportunity along the road to plan ahead the long one, but this meant i ran past the gate, and then i was very hesitant in all the rhodi's, quite a lucky kind of control.
9-11 - fine
12 - directional error out of 11 lost time and also i think my route was poor. i decided to go up and over, but then the second half of the leg i was very unsure and hesitant and was very slow.
13-14 road crossing
15 - a bit of time lost in circle
16 - again a bit right on bearing
17 - lazy technique meant i was very defensive.
splits show i was third at 11, so my route to 12 was definately a poor one. also faded badly after that.
To be honest, i think this was a bit of an off day so I'm trying not to be too bothered with the result.
