...those jobs happen. Sometimes it's finding 20 minutes to do something, anything, that makes the difference. Or figuring out what you can run or ruck instead of drive...etc. Good luck with all that. Who's your officer counterpart?

MAJ Rice (D/Eng), but his wife has been in the hospital, so he's been out...I think he's maybe been in a total of 15 hours since last Saturday...they're probably going to find someone else to cover down in a few days if it is determined that he needs to spend more time with his wife.

I get pretty good guidance from the DMI4 from Camp Natural Bridge and the DMI S4A that works out of the Buckner S4 Shack (although he also has been out the last few days).

I'm not necessarily shooting from the hip, but I'm not quite getting out to the 300m target, either.

Ugh, that's not good...don't bank on them finding someone to cover down, either - the officer side is pretty short. If you can't find DMI4 (who's that this year?), your best bet is to find yourself a senior NCO with some time to wargame with you. Explain that you're trying to prep for problems before they occur, and you could use some help wargaming "everything that could possibly go wrong" and possible solutions. Especially if you find a 92Y (or whatever they call supply guys these days) - I'd look for at least a SSG, preferably a SFC.

Fun times. My officer counterpart for Air Assault had to go to CAS3 (Command and Services Staff School, no longer a requirement) so I got the SF MSG for the summer. He was awesome and we were all better off for having lost the O3, who was (I hate to say it) a transpo guy and not really much of a mentor.
