It sounds like a few of the orienteers suffered on the first hill of the second lap.
I dropped 50 seconds on lap 2, and Blair lost a significant amount also.
I guess we are not very experienced at running these races, and perhaps got carried away with the packs on the first lap.

Great day and good fun though.

yeah, great race wasnt it.
i find it really hard not to get carried away at the start of those races and saturday was no different. its hard to pace yourself properly when your used to orienteering which gives you a little rest at each control.

are you going to do anymore AV runs this year?
if you enjoyed that one make sure you do the coliban relays in july.. thats an absolute cracker and its just about as close as you can get to something like jukola in australia

I don't think it was just the orienteers who suffered on the second lap; I was 42 seconds slower and I think I probably had a net gain of places. In my case it was my quad strength which wasn't up to the job.

yep, my quads blew up too, that last hill was hard
i lost about a minute on my second lap and probably about 10 places, definately no gain
