Sorry, I didn't find a listing on the events to post this. I suppose I could have created it and gotten it started!

Is there a date for the 2014 weekend? Southwest just announced a sale through Feb. 12, 2014, and I might want to pounce on some tickets to Seattle...

I *think* the final two WIOL events (including the champs) will be Feb 1 and Feb 15, and CascadeOC and GVOC have always made sure to not have a conflict here.

I'm double-checking about the CascadeOC dates...

Confirmed, the WIOL dates are Feb 1 and Feb 15, and history would suggest that GVOC uses the Feb 7-9 weekend.

Most likely we will hold it on the 8-9th of February. Monday the 10th is a holiday in BC. We will confirm in the next few days.

Are the rsst of the 2013-14 WIOL dates posted anywhere?

Pink Socks:
Nope.

The first half of WIOL dates are pretty set each year: the 1st and 3rd Saturdays in November, and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays in December.

The second half are every other weekend, starting sometime in January. Going back through the years, we'd never started on January 4th before, but the only time we started on January 11th was back in 2003. Which is why I had to ask our WIOL director about the dates.

2013-2014 WIOL Season
11/02/2013
11/16/2013
12/07/2013
12/21/2013
01/04/2013
01/18/2013
02/01/2013
02/15/2013

I think I figured it out: algorithmically, that would be the 1st and 3rd Saturdays in November, December, and February. And the 4th-to-last and 2nd-to last Saturdays in January.

Hmmm, 2015 and 2016 could be potential scheduling issues. The holiday in BC is the 2nd Monday. And WIOL uses the 1st Saturday. In 2015 and 2016, those are the same weekends.

It's unfortunate that WIOL#3 appears to conflict with Get Lost!!'s Sprint the Golden Gate A-event...

Unfortunate on paper, not a big deal in reality.

In 2009, 2 of the 26 entrants at Sprint the Golden Gate came from Seattle. In 2011, 2 of the 35 entrants came from Seattle. There may be 5 of us coming down this year, which is still nothing. I guess I'm the one receiving the most misfortune, since I'll have missed two local events for the three tournaments, and I don't mind.

Sprint the Golden Gate is when it is because of AGU. And WIOL #3 and #4 are when they are because it gets us two league races in between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

San Francisco is 800 miles from Seattle, so really, this isn't a big deal. The bigger conflict I see is the BAOC event held on the same weekend.

Unfortunate in theory, as it pertains to juniors, because of the relative paucity of A-event races on the west coast.

The juniors that care about A-Meets will go to A-Meets. One of the reasons we only count 4 of 7 races in WIOL is because not everyone will go to every one.

This conflict was pretty much unavoidable. It's unfortunate that WIOL #1 is usually a conflict for State XC. It's unfortunate that other WIOLs conflict with SATs or whatever.

Tundra/Desert:
The BAOC event is a fractional conflict with Sprint the Golden Gate, since it's limited to 20 people on each day and the same course is offered on Saturday and Sunday. The thought is that people who dislike Sprints (the majority of BAOC members) will hopefully do our Middle on Saturday and the BAOC event on Sunday. Out-of-town people cannot do the BAOC event, it is only for those who volunteered during the year.

The BAOC event is supposed to happen the weekend after Thanksgiving, not the same weekend as Sprint the Golden Gate, I think.

Even though the schedule says otherwise.

Confirmed with the team that Bon Tempe is happening Nov. 30/ Dec. 1 so no BAOC event the same weekend as Sprint the Golden Gate.
