Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Orienteering (Simpson Ground Chase) 1:01:53 [3]

Got my annual patella tendon injury somewhere out there yesterday. It was stiff in the evening and I was limping down the stairs, felt it warming up before it eased off during the race.

Okay round the first loop, wiggly to 133 being unnecessarily scared of the green after yesterday
Gave Willy a slingshot round 126 loop
Then slow and poor through 148/149

Nathan caught me at the start of D which was ideal. A bit of raw-hanging until the last part of three where I avoided the windblown but he did better in the circle. Caught up again to 4, diverged a little to 5 before he opened up a gap through the circle. Had him in my sights to 8 before I got a massive splinter through my shoe into my sole which I stopped to sort out. Solo back from there.

Orienteering race (Witherslack Middle) 39:55 [3]

Tough and technical normally equals my sort of area. Steady at the start being careful round the first loop so as not to bin it. Massively unsure at the key decision point to #2 but used the orientation of the cliffs to go the right way, even if I didn't know which channel I was in. Found technical supremo Fellbaum up above six and shouted he was way too high, but he followed me to 7.

Heavy timeloss to 9 dropping too much and crossing the spur wrong before getting stuck in green then not totally in the zone to 10. Basket case from there until 13 where Aidan and Joe were getting close. They weren't gonna get me though so cracked on largely decent to the finish.

Really good fun and was competitive when not throwing wobblies. I identified 8 as being the end of the technical section when really should have kept things in control until 9. 11 was poor compass on the flat. Not quite sure how I ran off the map at 12, a bit too much compass and not enough map reading at the start of the leg.

Running (Dovedale hills) 57:34 [3] 8.4 km (6:51 / km) +677m 4:53 / km

Loosely following the fell race route. Legs felt good walking and lungs are coming. Could do with a Saturday interval session really.
