Paddling 1:20:00 [3] 8.0 km (10:00 / km)

Paddled with Escondido up in Haliburton in the early evening which was the perfect time to be out on the water...really hadn't paddled a decent distance since FAC which was almost two months ago! When we got to the destination he had set out for us, we docked the canoe and ran 20 minutes out and then back on the same route and paddled back to where we began.

Very hilly along the cottage roads but was a really nice run and felt like we were going at a good clip too although distance is only estimated based on time. We were fortunate that there wasn't much wind on the water.

Felt good during and after the workout despite really not drinking much water at all during the day.

Weights/Resistance Training (Body Pump) 1:00:00 [3]

Hit the gym for some strength conditioning tonight...did Body Pump - was an ok class...didn't feel super challenged but did work some muscle groups that I tend to conveniently forget about when I do my own resistance work. It was just too busy in the gym to do my own workout tonight so the class was a good alternative.

Running 28:00 [3] 5.1 km (5:29 / km)

Waited a bit until 8:30 for the air to cool off a bit, but even that didn't seem to help a whole lot tonight...man was it hot for a run! I had planned to do a 10k route but after 5 km, I was out of gas. I pushed tonight because I'm trying to get faster to keep up with the boys but it was probably not the best night to decide to run hard. I'm happy with what I did do and hope that next week I'll be able to do the full route and then get faster.

I want to try and get down to 5:30/km but right now am having trouble breaking the 6:00/km mark. If anyone has ideas on how to get faster - I'm ready to listen!

Cooled down by walking 2.2km after the run.

With about a month to go until the next race, I'm getting pretty excited but also hope it's not quite this hot during the race!

Running 50:35 [3] 8.3 km (6:06 / km)

After resting a bit after work, went out for a run on the road and incorporated 7 hills into the route. Although the pace doesn't come out looking super speedy, I did push hard throughout the run, especially since one of the hills included Ellis. Still a bit humid at 8pm but definitely better outside than it was at lunchtime.

Happy with the run, didn't feel too thirsty throughout or tired...try to mimic this again next time.
