Putting out controls for the sprint. Had to beat a path thru the tall weeds to get to the control locations.

New inserts in Duluth shoes at 216 miles now

Did a look over the AR map. With a little learning on hydration & electrolytes I could stay out another hour. I would have snagged two more controls. I could have gotten another two with an increase in bike skills and slight improvement in endurance. That would bring me to 18. Anything more would require a different kind of boat.

Adventure Race 6:55:00 [4]
shoes: Duluth Jack Pine

Only disappointment was the paddle control locations were so remote. It would have been a two hour paddle on the fishing kayak one way. So I skipped paddling with a combination of biking (2hr) & trekking (5hr). Controls were all where the map showed them to be. Painful going downhill with my toes. On a 361 adventure race I tend to average 2 controls per hour. I did the same today snagging 14 in the 7 hours I was on the course. I was starting to cramp and just came in at that point. Carl and I teamed up for the first 3 controls but then he went out on the kayak. Some very scenic control locations. Had a good time on the race.
