Another outing to Littlejohn starting at Wiswall. The usual, but tried to loop more in a clockwise direction and explored the new logging trails on the east side. No hill sprinting today. Very hot (86 F) and humid; so I tried to keep a distance race pace going with short strides. I signed up for next Saturday's Bear Brook Trail Marathon, so tried to get a feeling of what pace I could maintain in the heat. It may not be relevant since the race starts at 6 am. More importantly is to train to minimize impact on legs, so as to avoid cramping later in the race. We'll see.....

Cool-down after the run. More like a chill-down, since the water felt cold after last night's multiple downpours. Pleasant a usual. Youngster playing in water and on and off the bridge.

Another evening run. Still hot. No major hills but lots of little blips: Spruce Wood to Shelter to Highland House, then on road (1/2 mile) to Stonehenge and back via bike trails, connecting to Troy's trails (I found a faint connector, yeah!). Then home via SpruceWood and an extra loop out to field and back over myhill. Kept a good pace going and pushed the hills. Lots of sweating. No deerflies yet, so I am enjoying another shirtless affair.

Running home from work. Cool,weather was threatening - thunder in the distance, hail warning, etc. That kept me going at a good pace. It started to rain, but by the time I got home it seemed all cleared away. So, a quick stop to dump my fanny pack, and back out for a couple of loops around Spruce Hole, including a hill tempo over myhill.

Running from (9am) and to (5pm) the Village Garage, where I left the Honda for a diagnostic check. Ended up being a bushing rattling, with little consequence. Perhaps we'll get it fixed later, or junk the car alltogether (2004 Civic Hybrid - still runs fine otherwise, AC is kaputt).

Mid-day trail run around Littlejohn starting from Wiswall. Did several loops to amount to 4 big hills. Stayed on trails throughout except one cut-off to avoid the through the swamp section of an old trail. Pleasant: warm dry windy (75 - 80 F).

A cool-down swim at Wiswall. Refreshing!
