Adventure Race 5:00:00 [3] 63.0 km (4:46 / km)

Day 4 of CBT! This was a short, seemingly easy day to the finish. We ran the rest of the course w/our 2p team, which was a good time. 24k bike to North Platte River. Beautful morning/sunrise. We were moving slow. Last teams out of the TA. Also one of the last teams in the night before as we pushed to get more CPs. 36k paddle to the whitewater park in Casper. Ended up towing our other boat. Worked a lot harder than we had planned. The river was moving 8-9k/hr at the put in, but it slowed as it got closer to Casper. Grabbed our boogie boards and went for a swim down the whitewater section. Got cold towards the end but only a km long. Final 2k trek to the finish! 4th place against the level of competition with us being newcomers to XPDs felt really good. The dark zones also allowed us to recover during the race, and less than a wk out, I'm no longer sore. Had bad blisters which are healing well. Should be running again in a couple days. Can't wait for CBT 2014!

Adventure Race race 20:30:00 [3] 177.0 km (6:57 / km)

Day 3 of CBT. Got our bins loaded in time but didn't leave TA right at its end. We knew we would have time to clear for the day and got enough sleep to feel good. Started off w/a beautiful 50k bike to Pathfinder on roads. Then 5k trek around Pathfinder Reservoir, which got really hot as we went up to the high point. I busted out my white compression sleeves...lifesaver. Next up, 49k ride to hand carts, with a stop at Independence Rock (Oregon Trail) for an OP. 14k trek w/hand carts, learning some Mormon history along the way. Then we had to bike back the way we came to get to EODTA3 at Alcova Reservoir, another 49k. Teammate was battling some major sleepmonster issues, but we got 6 of 7 CPs in the final 11k trek, coming into TA just as the dark zone was getting ready to lift. Opted for a short nap before heading out for the final day. At this point, we had 4th place in the bag as long as we finished.

Adventure Race race 23:00:00 [3] 117.0 km (11:48 / km)

Day 2 of CBT. Started out with the peloton of top teams in the AM. Got dropped after a few miles. At one point the sun was coming up and a herd of antelope were running through the field below us. Really cool. 37k total. After the bike, went to a 19k trek on gravel roads with no shade. HOT. This march took us to the Seminoe Reservoir for a 23k paddle. We just missed the storm that stranded a lot of teams. The wind picked up the last 45min or so for us. To give you an idea of the storm, this paddle took us 4-5hrs. Took our 2p Rev3 team 11hrs! They were caught dead in the middle. The rest of the day/night was spent on the long o-course. 38k ish total. Here, we opted to drop 2 CPs that were on a 9k loop, knowing that we would be cutting it very close to missing the cutoff if we went for them. Finished a little before 5, got about 90min of sleep.

Adventure Race race 15:30:00 [3] 198.0 km (4:42 / km)

Day 1 of Cowboy Tough. Raced with mates Greg, Fritz, and Emily for Rev3/MK. Started out with a trek and bike in Curt Gowdy outside of Cheyenne. Then bike over to Vedawou for the ropes section. Missed a trail going to CP13 and burned some time. Took the more exciting rappel, which was awesome. Biked to a bike-o section, met up with the other Rev3 team for awhile into Laramie. Then 60mile ride to EODTA1. Solid storm on the way. Today marked the first time I'd ridden over 100miles in a day. Trek around Allan Lake. Finished around 1am, which gave us 4 hrs of dark zone time. Who knew we were actually going to sleep in TA?!
