2nd long run of the weekend. Ran to Hampstead Heath and met Anne there.
We then tried the mobo.osport.ee course, which wasn't a complete success. A lot of the QRs are missing from the posts, and misclicking any button in the app removes the map from the cache and theres no signal there to reload. Might try again another time with a paper map.
Anne seemed to enjoy it!
lots of mud, and 2 beers at the pub after nailed me.

1st day of true ultramarathon training.

Ran the first 16km to breakfast with Anne. She ran really well and the right pace for me. Had brekkie then ran 20km home.

Tried to run VERY slowly, stay on the grass as much as possible, and walk any uphills, and have brief walk breaks... pretty good replication i think.
Don't feel too bad afterwards, should be able to do something similar tomorrow

My limitations are going to be foot/ankle strength and glute strength. keep in mind.

FIRST TIME ORIENTEERING!

Waterloo Street-O.

I had a huge advantage living around 800m from the start, and could pretty much visualise where each control was by looking at the map, but still learnt a lot about looking at the map, knowing what i needed to memorise, having a plan etc. had to stop at each control to write answers so not as advantageous having a second target in mind.
My plan after a couple of controls was to go for high scoring controls further away so i could take advantage of my running more than my orienteering skills, which probably didn't pay off.
Got a bit jibbed on the score, losing 30 points because i thought i had to find a number on a fire hydrant which was broken (instead of a sign) and 20 points on a No-smoking sign, which was opposite a no-somethingelse sign. Lesson learnt.

I feel like i didn't really have to use as many orienteering skills rather than general googlemap reading skills given that the streets are really gridlike and i pretty much knew where i was at all times.

Lots of fun. will do again!

Final score 390/890
Final place 390/390 (probably)

Place 29/109 would have been 13/109 if i had known what to look for for the hydrant code and that the dot specified the other side of the road. Not bad, can't wait til the next one
