Morning. Anglesea-Lorne Rtn.

Morning ride from Anglesea to Lorne and back with a coffee stop at Airey's Inlet. Didn't have much zing in the legs.

Kayaking 1:21:42 [3] 12.57 km (6:30 / km) +30m 6:25 / km
ahr:133 max:157 shoes: Red7 double

Midday. Fairhaven to Anglesea.

Lunchtime paddle with Kathryn in the Red7 from Fairhaven to Anglesea. Got dumped on our first attempt through the surf break but made it out next time. John Ewels enjoyed watching us flounder.
There was some SW swell but unfortunately the wind wasn't helping and was a very slight cross headwind. But really nice on the water and managed to make it to Anglesea at a descent speed. Caught a great wave into the beach. It was only small but one of my best.

Running 33:10 [3] 6.02 km (5:31 / km) +26m 5:24 / km
shoes: Asic 2110 GT

Afternoon. Urquarts Bluff.

Late arvo jog along the beach from Urquarts Bluff while kathryn and her dad went for a surf.
Legs were a bit tired.

Kayaking 45:00 [3] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

Midday. Port Melbourne.

Morning paddle from Sandridge Surf Club with Jarad trying many skis (mostly for Kathryn's benefit). Tried the Epic V10, Fenn Mako 6, Fenn Mako Elite (glass and carbon), Robberg Express.
To answer a question Mounty asked the other day- yes 6kg in weight would make more difference than the shape of the boat.

Running 53:47 [3] 10.34 km (5:12 / km) +77m 5:01 / km

Evening. Traralgon.

Christmas run- 3 laps with punch at the drink stop. Started pissing down at 5pm and even worse when we were running. John was very talkative as usual and we started off slowly but got faster and faster. He, Peter and I did 3 cups each lap and the pace was as fast as i've run for a long time and it was fun putting John in the hurt box as he struggled to keep the drink down.
21mins for 5km and about 10glasses of punch. happy with that. Did a long cool down when I ran into Nenet and Shaun and caught up on Nenet's Busselton ironman meltdown.

Evening. Hazelwood.

Nice and warm today and hardly a breath of wind, great conditions for riding. Different format to two weeks ago. This time it was a handicap within the A/B/C groups. Agrade did 4 laps and we started 15mins behind them. With a lap taking 18mins it was unlikely we were going to stay away.
Our group of 7 worked well for the first lap (18.20) until Duncan's crank fell off. Funny. I was a bit surprised when we were caught at 14km mark but was happy to sit in and take it easy for a bit. Did some turns for the next lap as most road cyclists are wankers and don't want to work. Stayed near the front on the last lap wait for the action to start, which did at the hill half way round. I chased down one guy twice but he eased up both times as he must have been waiting for a mate or something. I figured it was worth a go as noone really knows who I am.
Some bloke called Peachy went with 4km to go and no one chased. So I had a crack halfway up the rise near the powerstation and they let me go too. 2km later I had about 100m on the pack but I died big time and was caught about 300m from the line. Oh well maybe 3km was a bit far from home but i'm never gonna win in a bunch sprint. I mightn't no much about tactics but i'm sure I worked harder than anyone there.
Highest HR I've recorded for a while- max 200bpm, and averaged 194 for the last 5km.

ahr:136 max:177 shoes: Cannondale Rush

Afternoon. Tyers Junction.

Went to the re-opening of Brunton's Bridge on the Thompson River. It was orginally build in 1888 and has been burned a few times most recently in 2006 fires. They have now put a new steel walkway laid on top the original bridge.
Then rode from Walhalla, up to Happy Go Lucky, Maiden Town and back via the old coach road. Very warm particularly on the climb. Nice descent back into town.

MTB Cycling 2:55:53 [3] 39.83 km (4:25 / km) +1415m 3:45 / km
ahr:143 max:180 shoes: Cannondale Rush

Afternoon. Tyers Junction.

Reparked the car at Thompson Bridge, then rode up to Parkers Corner (30mins climb), then over towards Tyers Junction, Erica and back through Coopers Creek. Really nice evening but pretty hungry by the end as I hit a bump and lost half of my banana- my only food.
