Running long 1:07:10 [3] 8.11 mi (8:17 / mi)

2 hr lunch break at work so went for a long run on a lovely day.

Combined a couple of routes which made for a challenging route with 174m Elevation Gain. Wanted to do the Tadworth Route but Ebbisham lane would've been 2 muddy for road shoes as the weather has been pretty wet.

South Of Thames 7.5 - Beckenham Place Park.

Rubbish conditions. Windy and cold, about 2-3 degs. Was at Newlands Corner in the morning for O'teering with Carys. Almost missed the start!

Race went ok and thought it went as well as expected. I had been suffering a cold at the beginning of the week but held my own and finished mid pack. Couple oflaps with a slippery hill at the back which was hard to negotiate without spikes!

Legs were stiff next day and had a bad cramp in the quad at night.

Running (Nork Pk XC course) 36:26 [3] 4.47 mi (8:09 / mi)
shoes: Innovate Talon X

Did 2 of the large laps without the switchback that the race had. Each lap is 1.95 m. First lap was 13 seconds quicker. Average pace for the laps was about 7:40 Av pace for the run in total was 8:09.

I like running this course I get a good sense of training from doing it and hope as a midweek run it will help with some strength and endurance

Running intervals 35:00 [4] 4.7 mi (7:27 / mi)
shoes: Adidas Boost Tempo 9

Not sure on time i left, time i ran or distance as I had no watch with me.

Ran up to A217 along to Banstead Cross, down to Driftbridge and up to Work. I was a guess work interval session doing about 1km hard efforts and a recovery jog between each one. Think there was about 5 or 6 intervals in total.

Running race (Kent Masters') 41:20 [5] 5.71 mi (7:14 / mi)
shoes: Innovate Talon X

Was a bit apprehensive before the start. Listening to some people talking on the start line, they were discussing how tough the competition is and he nearly got lapped last year. He looked in good himself!!!!

Ground was heavy, 2 races before and steady drizzle. M40's was a 9km. No real hills but 3 short sharp steep inclines of 3m or so each lap and some off camber running and hairpins. 4 laps.

Went off quite quick, 1st lap was on a shorter loop and pace was 6:29 Mile 1. Whats pleasing is it didn't feel like that was to quick!

It was then really just a case of hanging on at a pace I felt like I could get to then end with, this pace meant I was able to run with a couple of guys on lap 2. Caught and passed 2 others on lap 3, passed 1 more on last lap and held off a another who had been catching me with a sprint to the line. I was quite strong on the short sharp inclines and this is where I seemed to make up some ground on the people around me.

Average pace was 7:15 i think which i'm really happy about and finished 62 out of 75.
