Note
(rest day)

No time today. Probably for the best. Pretty tired after yesterday. Starting off an easier week before what will possibly be my last hill race of the year.

Hill Running long (Ring of Steall) 3:37:00 [3] 10.64 mi (20:24 / mi) +1517m 14:08 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 Mudclaw 300

Some time to kill in Fort William so headed out to bag a few more Munros. Long slog up An Gearanach overtaking a few groups out walking. Not too steep woth the zig zags and ran a lot of it. 1:10 to the top. After that none of the hills are very big. Some easy scrambling on some of them. Chickened out of doing the tricky bit on the Devil's ridge. 4 Munros done in under 3 hours. Long descent off Sgurr a' Mhaim after. Fun on loose scree at the top but legs turning to jelly further down. Over a mile of road running at the end wasn't the most pleasant finish. Lots of time spent taking pictures and about 5 mins chatting to a guy on the last hill included.

Hill Running 1:15:46 [2] 5.65 mi (13:25 / mi) +650m 9:53 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 Mudclaw 300

Managed to miss Dad on his way through transition on his triathlon so drove back to the campsite and ran from there up Ben Nevis to the Red Burn hoping to catch him. He was still ahead (found out later he was 45 mins ahead) so waited at the halfway point for him. Paused the garmin and wrapped up as it started to get cold. Got a few photos as he came down then nipped past to get the car and meet him in town. 45mins up and 30 down. Everyone thought I was running the triathlon so got loads of encouragement on my way up.

Feeling pleased with my endurance at the moment. was comfortable for an entire 3 and a half hours in the mountains and had enough energy left to head half way up Ben Nevis. Need to not lose the momentum and stop training for long distance after the Skyline like I did last year.

Hill Running 1:14:06 [2] 6.47 mi (11:27 / mi) +450m 9:25 / mi
shoes: Salomon Sense Ultra SG

Easy run with Kamilla. To Swanston and up Allermuir started to head down to Boghall with the intention of crossing the stream and climbing back to the col between Caerketton and Allermuir. Got caught up in some nasty overgrown stuff at the bottom. Struggling to find a way through the gorse. Back to Swanston after. We were both pretty tired after the session yesterday but moving reasonably well. Pleased to have no niggles after yesterday

S+C (Circuits) 30:00 [0]

Road Running (Grass) 49:42 [5] 5.9 mi (8:25 / mi) +2m 8:25 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel Hyperspeed

10X~920m reps. Couldn't quite get a nice loop in the pitches to make a kilometre so settled for 0.57 miles according to the Garmin. About 1:40 static rest after each rep. Pace was good but never felt I was working too hard and was strong throughout. I think I was running harder than Gordon had wanted but really hard to judge.
Times: 3:30, 25, 23, 22, 22, 23, 17, 17, 16, 11

Road Running 10:44 [1] 1.24 mi (8:39 / mi) +10m 8:27 / mi
shoes: Asics GT 2000 #2

Cool down and running for another bus.

Awesome evening. From home up Allermuir and over to Hillend then back through Swanston. Loads of people out tonight.

Road Running 43:45 [3] 5.67 mi (7:43 / mi) +30m 7:35 / mi
shoes: Asics GT 2000 #2

Athletics run. Same as last week. Easy out to the canal then 15 minutes out then back. Easy back to uni after. Took it easy on the way out at about 7:20-7:30 pace and picked it up to sub 7 pace with Sean on the way back. A bit quicker on the final section to make sure I stayed ahead of Stuart. About 6:20 pace for the final mile and a half. I actually feel like I've got some speed on the flat. Nice considering the lack of flat reps since July.
