Was hoping to do something longer. Fine on the flats and downhill but no energy on the climbs. Dodgy tummy after a few miles so had to cut it even shorter

Steady road run. Was planning to do my Braid hills road loop but by the time I reached Braids I was sick of road running so took the lower trail in the opposite direction to the xc race. Path improvements in a few places so the race might not be as much of a muddy mess this year.

First cross country race of the season and a short one to start off. Set of steady and didn't really get much faster. Quite a few wee hills and attacked on each of those to take a few places each time but no real oomph on the flat. Afterwards I felt I could have pushed harder in the first 2k. Quicker than last year by 10-15s despite the course being more overgrown and there being a little bit of an extra loop through overgrown stuff just after the road crossing. Not sure of position but 2nd Heriot Watt guy just behind Juan. Good one to start off. About what I expected given I've not been training for this sort of distance but will hopefully get quicker.
