Cross Training (Cycling) 3:33:25 [1] 44.14 mi (4:50 / mi) +585m 4:39 / mi

Longer ride out with Kally. A really nice day. All at a fairly chill effort apart from the main climb up brickworks where I went a bit harder. Feeling more muscularly limited than aerobically limited. Was feeling quite good about overtaking some people who looked more like proper cyclist than me before some actual proper cyclists absolutely breezed past me on the way up

Easy Mersey. Baking hot today

Rewriting everything for reference to myself as its been a while

Alternating side dead bugs 3x10 each side

SL glute bridges 3 sets of 10x10s

Double Leg Hamstring Curls - 3x12

Reverse Plank - 6x20s (really need to switch the order and not do it straight after the hamstring curls as my hamstrings were struggling!)

Hip thrusts from floor - 3x15 with 20kg kettlebell. This one didn't feel too challenging. I think ideally would use more weight but that isn't feasible with what I've got so might drop the weight and do it single leg

Goblet squat - 3x10 with 20kg kettlebell

Meant to do hip flexor marches but running out of time

Roasting today. Warmest I've been on a run in ages. Glute much improved compared to yesterday. Slight feelings at the start but not as bad and then totally cleared apart from a bit of pain right at the end.

S+C 30:00 [0]

Normal stuff plus some stretching for glutes and hamstrings
5 PM

Cross Training (Turbo) 40:00 [3]

Short warm up and then 30mins at a good steady effort. Highest average power I've managed so far across this. Not all out but working hard and happy to be finished at the end. A bit more gentle spinning at the end to finish off

Easy Mersey after a long and reasonably stressful day. Felt quite low on energy and flagging towards the end. A bit too long after having eaten.

The last couple of days when running I’ve had a bit of pain in my left glute. This has felt quite similar (although much less severe) than some pain I had at times in January during/after attempted interval sessions before my hip properly took me out.

It feels a bit like something is moving awkwardly/not quite right and is sore as a result. The pain comes on early in the run and tends to fade after 10mins or so with some occasional slight feelings after.

My glutes felt quite worked/tired after hiking at the weekend. While this wasn’t overly long or strenuous I’ve barely gone uphill in a while so my initial thoughts are that this and jumping back to running right after have left something overly tired and things not working quite as they should.

First thoughts are to have a day or two off running, continue the strength as normal and just cycle if that sounds reasonable?

Easy Mersey run. After a rubbish winter of barely running even a short Mersey run like this is giving me a proper buzz

S+C 30:00 [0]

Standard pre run stuff

Cross Training 40:00 [3]

Easy/Steady spin on the bike. Expected to feel worse after not much cycling in the last week but feeling fine actually

Easy on trails out by the lake nearby. Very pleasant. Glutes a bit tired from hill walking the last couple of days.

Lots of more touristy walking around the rest of the day after this. Between that and the walk from the airport to the tram we probably covered about 10k through the day. Always feels like much harder work than running in a way so my legs were quite tired in the evening!

Normal stuff apart from the hamstring curls
