Splendid LR out via WoL then into the Pentlands with Fred, Joe and Craig. First 9km were pretty razzy trying to (and failing) keep up with the HP boys. But then the rest was quite chill. Such a good route and quality day for it. Up there with one of my favourite long runs. (Nice change not to be hanging out my arse)

Mile Tempo

Cut down from the usual 10mins as wanted to shoot for 10 800s. Sat on the front, felt very chill.

Really not happening today. Felt naff right from the start, no energy at all. Stuck with Max for the first 3, then decided to cut out the 400 jog recovery and just keep it static. This helped but think I was already past the point of no return. Held it together for the next 2 reps in 2:16, but then a massive positive split on the 6th rep was enough for me to call it a day. Not particularly looking forward to the 3k next week but just need to get pumped for it.

Fred and Joe ran a pitiful 1:32 for 600m at the end of their session. I made them aware of my thoughts on the matter and swiftly stated that I could run a 1:29. They eyebrowed me and then it was on. Spiked up, and off I went. Felt super easy, never in doubt, 1:28.8, probs in sub 1:50 800m shape.

20’ Tempo

ngl had an absolute howler of a day. Spent 3 hours this morning doing my GMAT (business school entrance exam type thing). 2 hours into the test my supervisor accidentally ended the session meaning my test was essentially terminated. Fuck knows what happens now but that certainly induced a lot of stress. Pretty raging after that, so raging in fact that before session forgot to eat enough.

Anyway, excuses aside, shot for 10km, only made it to 20mins before the mental and physical battle was lost. Absolutely bonked.
