Orienteering 1:01:52 [3] *** 7.9 km (7:50 / km)
spiked:14/14c shoes: PI Synchro Seek Trail

ROC - Mendon Ponds Red - I went out pretty quickly since we had a tight schedule with Tyler's game and right of the bat I was hesitating with the route choice to #1. I think I went thought the exact process Vince did and started south but finished north of Devil's bathtub. The navigation was quite easy but the long legs and effective course setting set up several route choices. From 5 to 6 and from 11 to 12 I chose the parade field since it was an open run and set up better attackpoints - but I would be curious to hear where others went. I also cut across the swamp from 8 to 9 to avoid a nasty U-shaped trail run.

The knee was OK for the run and I tried to take it easy on the downhills. It strangely feels better this evening than it did after my shorter flatter run on Friday.

I finished in just over 1 hour and Jim told me I MPed. Was not too happy to hear about a second MP in as many weeks, but after going through the controls with him, it turned out that one box was coded wrong. The only bad thing was that I did not even hesitate going through the control (#3) even through the code did not match my clue sheet. Checking would have slowed me down unnecessarily in this case, I need to make sure I check things better in the future.

Note

Ahhh. Those seconds do count. Tying my shoes twice is definitely a bad thing. And walking up the hill from 12 to 13 did make a difference. At least I sprinted to the finish.
