Northern Champs- 3rd northern
Plan was long run pace and stuck to that out the gate despite shanking number one. Was actually moving quite well and had sight of 3 min and 6 min men just ahead around 9. But out of 12 could feel my feet were starting to get bad blisters. Not had them that bad in a long time. Made every step painful and couldn’t really run. So lost huge chunks after 13. Turns out some holes had formed in my socks right were I get blisters so that was extremely frustrating. As great as my grip socks are, they do seem to fall apart after about a year of use. Just got to keep checking them before each race. Still a much better weekend than any prior

British Middle-8th
Was very frustrated when I finished. Felt like it was a big opportunity missed to compete for a medal given the small field. Course was super fun and really suited me. With the form I had at csc, let alone the form after a consistent winter’s training, would definitely have been able to push more. Head and motivation to push was there but legs and fitness couldn’t back it up. First and last quarters were really scrappy, definitely left a lot of time out there.

But after it’s all settled, the result and performance was by far the best of the year and a massive step in the right direction. Gotta take the confidence from it and push on

Body definitely feeling the best today since the long. Aim for this weekend is not to put myself in hospital. Might run Sunday as a long run instead of a race but we’ll see how I feel

Finally fixed the road bike. Gear cable had snapped in the hood so had to get that out. Quite tedious but nice to have the option to ride again.
