Running long (Terrain run) 1:16:36 [3] 12.15 km (6:18 / km) +30m 6:14 / km
ahr:165 max:183 rhr:49 slept:7.0

Nice paced, longer run along Muriwai to get some more terrain training in.
Mix of sand tracks, Xcountry forest, and roads with Meghan and Jess.
Blisters started playing up at the 40 minute mark and so stopped when we got back rather than continuing on for 15 more minutes and destroying my feet more than I need to.
Felt really good though, and energy levels were quite high so could have kept going for another 30+ minutes at that pace.

Running warm up/down 21:39 [3] 4.1 km (5:17 / km) +26m 5:07 / km
ahr:167 max:183 rhr:50 slept:7.0

3 x 200m efforts w/ 200m jog with Meghan after the 3k.
Legs were definitely starting to feel it by the 3rd one.
Then did an extended warm down including a loop of the park with mum.

Running warm up/down 6:11 [2] 1.1 km (5:37 / km) +5m 5:30 / km
ahr:138 max:148

Running tempo (3k Time trial) 12:28 [5] 3.0 km (4:09 / km)
ahr:170 max:193 rhr:50 slept:7.0

Did a my February 3k time trial this morning down at the local track with Meghan.
The last one I had done in early January just after U23 camp and I had improved my time by about 3 or 4 seconds.
Since then I felt I had lost a bit of my fitness and speed while over in the UK for a few weeks, so going into this mornings run I was expecting my time to have slowed down a fair bit.
My goal after the last one was to get my next time trial down to under 12.30 mark but as I say I was not expecting much today.
When I finished and saw my time was not only faster than the last one but also successfully completed the goal I had set I was more than pleased.
Injuries... there don't seem to be any pains at the moment. I took yesterday off as I was quite sore from Thursdays session and knew I would be doing this today.
Blister seems to have cleared up, but a bit apprehensive of how it will handle tomorrows terrain session.
Arms began to become quite sore towards the end, but breathing seems to have improved.
Started a bit faster than I wanted and had to slow down and pace myself to keep myself together for the last 2k.
Didn't have my total time showing while running which I found was actually a lot better for me with regards to the effort I put in.
Today's run has given me confidence in what I had been doing so far with training and proved that I was progressing in the right direction.

Orienteering (Western Springs - C1) 1:01:50 [4] 8.94 km (6:55 / km) +100m 6:33 / km
ahr:171 max:190 rhr:52 slept:5.0

Was pretty tired after riding there and having had very little sleep the last couple of nights.
Tried to keep myself together and focus on running form and navigation when I began to tire.
Made an error at the 6th control and then took some route choices which may not have been the fastest.
Nice to have some competition around the course to keep me motivated.
Blister was surprisingly fine, quads just ached from the biking.

Biking warm up/down (Ride to and from training) 51:00 [3] 12.0 km (14.1 kph) +100m
ahr:160 max:180

Biked to and from summer nav today, going there was fine but coming back I was exhausted so slowed down a lot.

ahr:164 max:187 rhr:46 slept:6.0 shoes: ASICS GT1000 5 D

Had dentist appointment in ponsonby this morning so decided i'd just get my intervals out of the way and did them as part of the run back home.
10 minutes WU
6 x 3 minute efforts w/ 2 minutes easy (walk 1 min/jog 1min)
Was already very warm and had a lot of car and people dodging to do.
Warm down was around 15 minutes
Blister was sore, got home to find it was damaged a fair amount even after securely covering it.
Slowed right down in the warm down.
Moving into the next block next week which will aim on adding more speed based sessions rather than base building.

Orienteering (Senior boys - waitakere c) 11:31 [4] 2.32 km (4:58 / km) +10m 4:52 / km
ahr:178 max:189 rhr:48 slept:9.0

Ran the senior boys course unofficially at the western zone sprint series.
The schools are very basic and have been used so many times, but any training with a map that I can get is useful.
From the start it was bad, rain started just as I left the triangle and continued to pelt down until after I had finished.
By the second control my map was already beginning to wear away and stick together which was obviously a problem, especially when I had to flip the map over for the second half of the course.
First few controls were simple, long field legs, managed to keep my pace up around those but as soon as I hit the buildings again I had to slow right down to avoid any unnecessary collisions and falls on the slippery concrete and wood pathways.
Flipped my map a control to early but luckily had looked ahead enough to know where it was already.
By the time I finished the map was a bit of a mess, ripped in multiple places and worn.
Was a slow finish but would have still made top 6 in senior boys (just over a minute behind fastest), not as fast as I would have liked but with less than optimal conditions and very little warm up, it will have to do.
Blister was noticeable but not sore.
