Gothenburg 3 days - long. Good fun. Treated as more of a training exercise by taking straighter routes than I would in a race. Much more physical than upsalla, I really wasn’t moving.

Easy 10k to try out the new gear. Lovely first half, had to stop once for a few mins because I had cramp in my shoulder that wouldn’t go away. When I started back up legs felt very heavy so the second half was more of a slog. Good pace and heart rate for me though :)

Knew I had to win by a fair amount to win overall after some shockers earlier in the week so went out pretty hard. Probably not the best idea as it was sizzling, so hot and throbbing before I’d even started. Clean ish run, a few control circle mistakes and found a some extra controls that seemed unusually close to each other. Bonked hard at 9 and was just trying to keep breakfast down from then till the finish. Can’t actually remember the last few controls but came back all shivery and dizzy.
Happy to take the win by a fair amount today so overall win :) not the best week performance wise but had such fun and loved the scenery.

This was not the one. Spent the whole first half bent double in the green and the second half sliding down loose rock. Was also sweltering, didn’t enjoy this one a whole lot.

Lakes 5 day 3. Had so much more fun today, even with a 17 minute mistake. In retrospect it’s quite amusing how close I was to the control, couldn’t find the flag! And then did wander around trying to find something to relocate off for a very long time. I think I was too scared of dropping and having to climb back up and wasn’t taking the time to stop and fully work it out. Few other mistakes on 7 9 and 11 and lost the mindset after the whopper, was stopping to help people. Another ankle breaking area so i was being rather cautious, felt ok physically though so that’s a positive. Very enjoyable day but lots to work on.

Lakes 5 day 2. Made a few minor errors when I was focused too much on not face planting in the rocks to look at my map. Fairly cautious on the down hills with the ankle. Managed to push a bit more today, maybe because I was approached and told that I’d be caught which was lovely (didn’t get caught). Still not finding it overly technical so looking forward to tomorrow’s race.
